Thanks guys
Mike, I'm really impressed with this engine, so much so I now have the new 1.60 version with the standard carb for the Tempest.
Easy to adjust, excellent transition from idle to full power and doesn't seem to load up in the midrange.
This engine is supposed to be able to turn 16x12 prop exactly the same rpm as the YS140FZ so it made it very interesting and for a $250 I think this engine is a bargain. Mine is barely broken in and it is turning 17x12 at 7600 rpm and that on a straight fuel.
Of course the carb was not designed to run on alcohol so I don't know how long the rubber diaphragms will last.
All in all I think this is a fool proof engine, so it must be perfect for me

Even though my foam Typhoon was more meant to be a sport pattern plane it should not weight over 5 kg, it also makes building more fun and challenging. The veneer being heavier than balsa, it was very difficult to keep it light. To keep it under 5 kg there where few things I had to change, most important, the wing tube (the one I planed to use turned out to be 100 gr heavier than the Gator tube). Ruddercables, wheels, more lightening holes, you name it, everything counts.
With these changes, the plane is barely under the limit, and I mean barely ! By weighting every balsa sheet for the fuselage I can build this plane the way I did it, around 4,8 kg. I don't think I can build it lighter than that, except using contest balsa.
The important thing is I had fun building this plane and learned a lot. Now I just hope I can improve my flying with it.

Yes Bokuda, it is a very nice field. Unfortunately despite all the warnings from the club, the town council decided to plant a soccer field next to our field. So I don't think we can keep it much longer

Mikey, I see what you mean, dude. I followed the threads from way back, all 17 pages of it. But I must confess I didn't read every post. Just perused them. I'll check back from time to time and contribute what I can.

happy holidays

Matt

Attila,
I like the engine very much and plan to use the new MVVS 1.60 in my next plane. No doubt there are better engines out there, just depends how much you are willing to spend,I guess.

Hello Friends,

sorry to resurrect this thread but I would really like to know please where I can find the plans for this Typhoon 2000, I tried unsuccessfully to Gator R/C and Radio South, but none of them have this set of plans. Could you please tell me if you would know someone who can make a copy of these plants and them sell me? I´m really interested in building this model or the Mike´s model.

Thanks and best regards

Gaiotto

Hope this thread resurrection brings answers to questions about Typhoon 2000's. Canopy for  2000 would it be same as for 2x2 and the rest of Typhoon series I know cowl differences but canopy looks to be same?

Tim
