Steve and others:
Would I be better off in buying the 20d and sell my Rebel XT instead of buying the (a) lens mentioned in this thread? and using on my Rebel XT???

I'm no pro but you will still need a lens and while the 20D is great the XT is only a little behind, get the lens IMO and a new body when there is a significant difference.
The lens isnt probably going to go down much/change and is an "investment"

Makes me smile, I did notice that if your not carefull you can knock the the IS mode switch but thats about it.
I'm still playing around with it, thanks for your tip about the IS, this time I kept my finger on the shutter button and tracked them thru their circuits and the IS worked much better.
Who says you need a tripod!!
Definately a winner and this is about the first time I have been happy when I got home and saw the results, I guess you get what you pay for in this case.

Hey guys, on my 20d, the autofocus is hit and miss, I can take my rebel out and guarentee myself in focus shots, now with the 20D I can not.. using the same lens, same settings, poor autofocus.. so far Im not impressed and am bummed after dropping the money and having this trouble.. any thoughts? if I cant get it working Im selling this thing...

John,

On the 20D you can select the autofocus mode, whereas on the rebel (the old one at least) it is set depending on what mode you have selected. To emulate the rebel's main autofocus mode, make sure you have it set to AI Focus. Page 64 in the manual.

If you havent cleaned it since it came back from Canon then probably!!!
Also some lenses allow dust in thru the fittings so Im told. When mine came back from Canon it still had dirt in it but now Ive cleaned it myself seems to have stayed gone for a lot longer.

On the auto focus remember the 20D has 2 more focus points so it can focus on 9 things as well!! I found that using the center focus point works for me, I had the Rebel as well and the 20D does require telling a few things, but that what you got it for!!
