Did you get all the components for your system from Optotronix? Can you tell us which base system you selected and what additional components you used? I have a TF T-34 that will be a winter build this fall/winter [hopefully] and I have Bob Ripleys detail kit (great kit BTW). I really like the visibility and apparent fitment of your lighting, and would like to replicate it on my build. Thanks for any information you can provide.

Status: offline 		Sorry, a bit late. But I used this set-up:

2 Landinglights: 20 mm warm white, with cooling element:



1 Taxilight: 18 mm warm white:



3 Positionlights: 10 mm 4-chip power leds (they don't need cooling) 1 green, 1 red and 1 warm white:



2 Strobes: Seoul 1 Watt white. They are much brighter than the power leds, and when used flashing, they don't need cooling:



2 Beacons: Also the Seoul 1 Watt white, but in a red cap:



Standard controler:



If you order, ask for the resistor package. Tell them what power supply you are going to use, and they provide all the correct resistors with the leds for 5 Euro's.
I used all the lights in warm white so you don't see it's LED. It looks very scale. The strobes are bright white, so they really flash bright, like a real plane.
I don't know the weight, but it is not much. I use a 2 cell 1000mAh lipo to power the lights. My T-34 is quite heavy with 18,5 pounds, but it flies great.

Status: offline 		Oh, and with this controler you can't switch the lights in the air, so I used a remote controlled relay to control the landinglights and a micro switch in the gear for the taxilight.
There are more expensive controllers that can do this for you.

Status: offline 		i have my T-34 almost done. covered in monokote, fixed gear, i am powering mine with an evolution 1.00NX with a bisson pitts muffler and a 15X6 evo prop. total weight is coming in just under 11 lbs. not looking for a rocket, but, i hope it powers it well. from what i have read here, even very heavy,they fly well. i guess we will see......

Status: offline 		Nice thread, some good looking work guys. I've wanted this kit for a long time, fixin' to pull the trigger before Tower stops carrying it.
Scale Pursuits, Frank Merkel and RT Aerospace have some great looking T-34 kits, but don't think my building skills are quite up to the task of those products.

I just finished building the TF P-51 1/7 scale. Maidened it last weekend and flew great. Now I'm ready to build my second kit plane. I've decided on the TF T-34 and will use this forum as a tool to help me along my build.

My plan: OS FS91, 14x7 APC, Hitec Servo's HS-625 on elevator and rudder - standard for the rest, electric retracts, robostruts, and finished with monokote. For this kit I will attempt inner gear doors powered by a servo and door sequencer. I'm going to try to build a removable canopy as a hatch for easy access to the inside.

I'm ready to order - keep you guys posted once I get the kit.

Status: offline 		Crashed my T-34 yesterday due to lost of control. It hit an asphalt road at full speed and splashed into tiny pieces. Impossible to rebuild. It is part of the game, but still very sad.

My T-34 is coming along and the anticipated weight should be a bit less then 18 lbs. I still have a fair amount of detail work to do yet so the maiden flight will be a spring event.

I am happy with the way it has come out so far. I still have to detail the landing gear, machine the scale wheels for it, finish wiring up the lights...and lots of other little odds and ends.

I am using a RCV 130CD. Mainly because it was the only 120 class engine that I could find to fit completely within the cowl and was more or less a conventional 4 stroke design.

The windshield and front section are from the kit. I had to vacuum form the center and rear sections to (A) match the full scale that I was modeling and (B) accommodate and opening and closing canopy. The kit canopy won't allow that. Just as side note, I have just a bit over 850 hours invested in this project so far but then again I am building it for competition. Well that is great to here. It saddens me to see the number of builders dropping off and also participation in scale contests is on the decline. I was one of the judges at the NATs this year and was shocked to see such a low turn out in R/C scale competition. The scale control line guys had twice the number of airplanes compared to the R/C class. Also, there are no C/L scale ARFs, that I know of so all of their planes were kit or plan built models.
