    Just one question about the locking of the main gear door (post #300), what lock the main gear door in place are those the springs. In the picture you sent it seems that the wires and spring are loose.

    Are you going to have a sliding canopy and if so how are you going to implement that? The T34 is canopy-intensive in my humble opinion. I have managed to scratch mine and am not satisfied with the silver frame I've sprayed on the inside. It looks great!.....from a distance. Am considering buying a new canopy and starting over, but this time with a sliding canopy. The next time I build a scale plane I'm gonna research the canopy......oive and learn.

    I bought an OS 1.20 4-stroke motor for my Mentor. Is that what you have? Were you able to use the stock muffler that came with the motor?

    I would love to see pictures of your sliding canopy installation. Would appreciate seeing any pictures you've got.

    My canopy became scuffed after a couple of moves coast-to-coast in a UHaul trailer so may have to buy a new canopy. I taped off the inside of the canopy and sprayed it inside with metallic silver paint for Lexan. I assume spraying the inside is the way to do it (? - brush the inside?) It looks great from a distance but I'm not satisfied. It wouldn't win any contests, especially upon close inspection.

    Status: offline     		I am also making Topflite T-34B Mentor, I am using OS 120-pump, robart gears, Installing Navigation lights want to make as close to scale as possible. As it is written in the mannual that a sliding canopy could be made but no steps regarding sliding canopy are written. So if someone can let me know; how to make a sliding canopy and make it work by a spare channel.

    Will be really thankfull.

    Status: offline     		Earlier in this thread a sliding canopy was discussed. The canopy on the T-34 was operated manually by the pilots. Operation with servos would be time consuming and genuine pain in the butt .

    Status: offline     		Sorry Raknin, for some reason I didn't get an email letting me know you had asked this question.

    The wire and springs you see in the photo are used to pull the doors shut when the nose gear retracts -- that's why they're loose when the doors are open. I added the springs just to give the system a little "give".

    The springs that hold the doors open when the nosegear is down are built into the white Sonic Tronic hinges that you see on each door. Those hinges can be purchased here: http://sonictronics.com/xcart/home.php?cat=378

    Status: offline     		After reading several posted comments, it appears there is a problem mounting anything larger than a 2 stroke .61 with a pitts muffler. I can't understand why Great Planes didn't make this known up front. How about the 4-strokes, can you mount them using the stock mufflers? I was thinking of the Saito 150.

    Status: offline     		A Saito 150 can be installed and will fly the plane very well, that is the one I have in mine, however, it is a hog. With an O.S. 120 it flies very well too with less engine vibration and with a much better fuel economy, as a friend of mine has in his. Concerning the exhaust, you just have to move the muffler into several positions until you find the one that suits you best. I would recommend this setup better than a Saito 150.

    Status: offline     		Hi I'm back. Back in 2007 I asked you about the muffler and how to solve the problem. I could not find anyone to weld up my muffler, so I went another way and used a bisson muffler, that solved the problem with getting a muffler to fit inside the cowl. But a new problem arose and I ended up closing one of the exgaust pipes so it would transfer the fuel by pressure. As of today the aircraft has Tow complete flights off a grass runway, and it only used about 300 to 350 feet for take-off. I have OS 91 FX with 15/8 Zinger prop. I am going to try a 16/6 Zinger prop and check the difference. The aircraft flies at 1/2 to 3/4 prower setting for normal fligh. No flaps on take-off, lands great with flaps no problem.     What does your T-34 weigh? If I ever get my new radio, I'm hoping to fly mine this year. I'm worried about how it's going to fly at 19 1/2 lbs. I'm going to find a larger runway than at our club field for sure. We only have 300 feet of asphalt.
