    What is the width of the firewall? I am curious because I have thought about building one of these and putting maybe an O.S. opposed twin 4 stroke in it. I think it would sound great!!

    Status: offline     		I had hopes that a 4 cyl horizontally opposed engine would fit but it would stick outside the cowling. I have installed an FT 90T and it barely fits inside the cowl. In fact, the ABS cowl that comes with the kit won't work. See my earlier post #47.

    Status: offline     		Just my 2 cents but I would really think about using the Saito 90 twin. I do not think it will fly it very well. Then also why ruin the looks of this plane with twin cylinders sticking out?

    Status: offline     		Hi all! Well my T-34 is finally done. I'm going to take it out this coming Sunday. It is built for the most part just the way the plans show. Even the same color as the box. I have a YS 91 SC in the nose and had to add 6 oz. to balance. It is built with the flaps and I have spring air retracts on it. Their is a cockpit kit installed also. This is a very impressive plane when done. I will post pictures after maiden flight on Sunday.

    Good luck on the first flight. Take lots of pictures before you fly it. It's good insurance. I can't wait to see the pictures.

    How deep did you cut the panel depressions on the stabs? I'm planning to do the same on mine and trying to decide whether to back the sheeting with some 1/16 strips or not. Mine's going to be covered with Monokote aluminum on the tail (Ultracote chrome on the fuse) since the full scale (Julie Clark's) is painted aluminum on the tail surfaces and the ailerons. Your project looks great, I can't wait until you figure the nose gear doors out.

    Status: offline     		What do you guys who are building these think the finished weight will be? I think Top Flight claims 12-14 pounds. That sounds awful light to me. I think with paint and some scale details you could easily be 17-18 pounds. Also how is the wood quality? The last Top Flight kit I built had terrible quality wood. The sheeting was so bad I could not even true the edge with a razor blade. I ended up replacing the wood with aftermarket stuff.

    The indentions are 1/32" deep. That's only half the thickness on the tail and a third the thickness on the flaps and ailerons.

    The kit does say 12 to 14 lbs. I'm sure that must be with fixed gear and Monokote. I've read weights as high as 20 lbs. on the Bonanza but that they still fly reasonably well. I'm hoping for 16 or 17 lbs. but it won't surprise me to see 18 or 19 lbs. when finished.

    Status: offline     		Well I put her up today and all went great. This is my first scale war bird type of plane. I only have Ultimate bipe and Extra type planes. So I can only compare it to them. Anyways form the start for power YS 91, spring air retracts, cockpit kit and flaps came in a 13.5 pounds. Taxi's really nice down runway 75' roll and airborne. No flaps first flight. 2 clicks right trim was all that was need to bring her into perfect flight. YS had plenty of power to do just about anything. Not to much but not to little. After about 12 minute flight It was time for a landing. Brought the throttle down to just a few clicks above idle line up with run way and she just floats right in nice and steady. I got to say this plane has no bad habits and a really great wing loading. I have flown a lot of airplanes of my own and for others trimming them out and so on and I'm going to say it here for everyone to read this is my Favorite one. It's no cap 232 or Edge 540 and you can't hang it on the prop, but she is sooooooooooooo sweet to fly! Plus she looks great. I will post pic's as soon as i can tonight.
