    Hi.
CNSASS do you think a Saito 91 would handle the plane? Can I build it with fixed landing gear and will it look as fine as yours?

    Thanks.

You sure can build it with fixed gear and just put the Robart scale struts on them to dress it up. I think you will be fine with the Saito 91 up front. It puts out a little less power then the YS 91. It really dosen't take much power to fly this thing. I was alittle worried about it at first but that all went away on the first flight.

Does anyone have any info about making this kit into a T-34C? Also, any reason for the nose gear to be offset?

    Thanks

Bob Banka's documentation has everything you need for a T-34C. His three-view packet has notes on the C's and civilian modifications vs. stock.

The "C' would require a lot of re-engineering. The nose is much longer and skinnier.

The nose gear is offset to the right approx. the width of the strut on the real airplane.

The attached photo shows the mods I have made to include nose gear doors and exhaust (augmentor ) tubes. I also modified the cowl opening so that it is more scale.

    Halh,
Good looking cowling, what size are the augmenter tubes. On the full size airplane these were like megaphones to provide a venturi effect to provide additional cooling air at high power. Can you give me more info on the gear doors. I.E. Hinges and actuators.

    Thanks,

    Dave

First of all, one must modify the nose retract mounting so that the gear door opening provides a mounting surface for the hinges. I used some Sonictronics offset door hinges that have springs to force the doors to open. I then used rubber bands attached to the doors that catch the strut when the gear are retracted.

The augmentor tubes are polished aluminum tubes - 1" diameter

Thanks for the info. I am just starting to build my T-34 so I have found this thread very helpful. What engine are you going to use. I am thinking of using the Saito FA-100.

    Hey Everyone,

Sorry I haven't posted in a long time. Haven't been able to work on my T-34 for the last 4 weeks or so. Hoping to get going again this weekend and will try to post some more progress pictures. My Flite-Metal is on order but haven't received it yet. Wil probably build a test panel to try it on so I can try rivet details and panel lines etc. before I put it on the actual plane.

    Jerry
