I got a Tamiya TT-01 like 2 days ago and its my first kit. I started building it, and in like 10mins in the first step, i lost the spur gear stopper (GB2). Does Tamiya sell this seperately or did I just get pwnt?

hey all,

I've got a TT-01 and have performed a few hop ups already... (all genuine tamiya parts):
- Full bearing kit
- Aluminium Tail Shaft
- Adjustable upper arms
- RS-540 Sports Tuned 23 turn motor
- Carbon Upper Frame
- Metal Engine Mount

I've got some yokomo drift tyres on it as well.
Running a 3000mAh 7.2v 6 cell

Now it runs pretty well.. drifts pretty nicely, as thats what i want it to do!
I'm running the standard Expec TTU-01 Controller and CPR-01 ESC/Receiver all in one unit.

I'm going to get the oil filled shocks as well.

I would more power though... What would be a good upgrade for this setup? What motors would i be able to run with the current ESC i have? I've heard they can handle only down to a 23Turn.

As mine is the standard setup of the XB series it is an all in one design with the receiver and ESC as a single unit.

has anyone else had any experience with these? I was hoping to be able to upgrade the motor without having to replace the ESC and receiver... Also any other mods that i could perform to get this drifting even better would be appreciated

Let me know!! thanks guys!

Cheers,

Brad.

Thank God!....Just what I'm looking for!.....some good advice!
The local model shop down my way "Dont know jack".......and its killin me!
Being new to the sport, I need alittle direction.
Brought my self a TT01...limited I know, but once I've finished should be an animal right?
This is just to have fun with, not to race, but I'm going for off the line speed.

Concerns: gearing, what the hell do I need?

Motor

Speed controller
http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXJJG0&P=M

Batts

Any foreseen problems, apart from a hole in my wallet (and New Zealand dollars dont buy sh..t) would be greatly appreciated!

Cheers..

Well the stock TT-01 comes with the lowest gearing you can get for it, so with gearing leave it stock.

With that set-up, you will see around 60mph and gear/tranny SOUP!!! That motor is way to powerful for the car, try the 1 star Neo..

Also you CAN purchase Take-Off tires seperate from rcmart.

Haha no way to beef it up.. I would just sell the motor, will prolly fetch around $60US if its never run. Then just buy a new one, cost around $75US.

Sorry I didn't give advice sooner.

But you can try it, but it will destroy ur diffs, pinions, and spurs.

Yeah thats the motor you want. But I do warn you that you will end up in the red a little..

What you can do if you don't want to sell the motor, run the esc on "sportsman" setting, and it has about the same RPM as a good arcing 19t motor, but lots more torque.

I know this is true that it will definately destroy the standard gear sets... but what if u were to go for some type of aftermarket setup? does anyone sell spurs and pinions that are metal for the tt01? or ones that arent specifically for tt01, but will fit the shafts.

also with the diffs... what if you went for ball diffs? and full alloy uni shafts and axle cups, etc.

I'm only new to R/C but i would have thought these options would be out there?

Finally some good advice!
Thanks for this guys, So.........Should I keep the 9T and run it on "Sportsman" or sell it for the 13T?
And, I can run the stock gearing?

Cheers bIGmiK...even if u are from Oz!
