Status: offline 		OK, I have read all the stuff about changing the spring on the clutches on the Tornado, however I have been through 3 aftermarket springs plus the original factory one, and to add to that mess I also have two identical cars which makes this simple problem very expensive. The latest springs only lasted 1/4 tank of gas, it is very aggrivating, if you have any sugestions please help, all the springs seem to be breaking at the points where they connect, 2 springs were the same brand, the other a different, one was traxxas, and the other two were tamia, I believe. Would it be worth it to just get a new clutch.
Any help would be much appriciated.

Status: offline 		I have found that if I locate the place where the springs connect near the point where the shoes mount to the pins they last quite awhile. I've used only Redcat springs and have broken 3 in about a gallon of fuel. Make sure the spring is laying in the groove with no twists. Can you take a pic of your clutch setup and post it?

Status: offline 		i used the traxxas 4146x spring and it has lasted for about 3 months now. make sure where it connects is in the center of one of the clutch shoes, if you put it twards the end of the shoe when it starts to open it will warp and break. Also make sure you use the shoes that come with the redcat, just change the spring.

Status: offline 		Here are the pics of the clutch im not sure exactly what you wanted but i took 4, the last time i had the sping hook set in the center of the shoe, the time before right by the pin time before that unknown

Status: offline 		I'm at a loss..... Dunno what to tell ya. Your clutch setup looks fine. Maybe Eric from Redcat will helpout on this post tomarrow. Sorry, I 've not had much problems with breakage. I have even rebent the end on 1 spring 3 times while waiting for a replacement and it's held for several tanks at a time.

Status: offline 		Hey I'm sorry man those pictures are a tad bit blurry.
To focus on things up close to the camera push the little flower button on your camera (With some cameras you have to slide a switch into place). This is called the macro button.
What it does is slide a lens into place that allows you to focus on thing that are 3 or more inches from the lens. It'll give you crystal clear pictures pretty much everytime on those close up shots.
Try it out and if you don't mind repost the new pictures.

Status: offline 		The talk of shock rebuild came up around here and I had some spare time so here you go. It's an illustrated guide and may require 2 posts so bear with me. I couldn't cover every step but these may help take some mystery out of it if there is any. The shock breakdown is in the Volcano manual. I used the buggy shock off the Tornado for these pics there is a pic of imporance to Volcano owners though. Lets SEE.

Status: offline 		Part Two... There you have it. The last pic is on the Volcano shocks only and is from a lesson I learned regarding them. The buggy shocks are well constructed and should last a long time. If you have a Volcano with a leaking lower shaft seal buy new shocks! The seal is nearly impossible to remove and not worth it. The alum Redcat shocks for the Volcano ( upgrade) are OK but the lower seal is not as good as the buggy. Thanks and I hope this helps someone! LOL

Status: offline 		Yeah...I've got a few trick up my sleeve. Thanks. BTW I replaced the shock oil in the Aluminum ( upgrade?) shocks and found out you cannot fill them all the way. You can only fill them to 1/4" from the top at most. The poor bottom seal will blow right out. This is a very poor design and Redcat ( Eric) should look to change it to the double oring and nut as found on the buggy shocks. I can't recommend these as an upgrade for the Volcano. Just nicer looking stock shocks. Oh This is all about the 1/10th scale cars & trucks. I'm not sure but it should apply to the 1/8 Hurricane also. Thanks!

Status: offline 		actually the Hurricane uses a full blown pro 1/8 buggy style shock...totally different from the 1/10 scale cars...VERY well built.

I'll look into it...nice writeup btw...and your old shock oil looks gross:P

Status: offline 		OK on the red cat site there are shocks that are about $10 a pair and some that are about $20 a set.
the $20 a pair look just like what my tornado came with stock.
are they or are they an upgrade?

Status: offline 		These are the shocks I got for the Volcano.Part #: 08041 From the Redcat Racing site. $17 per pair X 4 packages= $68 plus shipping. They aren't worth it IMO. That lower seal is just to cheap and doesn't hold. Very poor retainer design. Get the T Maxx shocks and make the upper mount modifacations. Same price.
