hot, med and cold plugs mean exactly that, hot=hot cold=cold. if you running high % nitro, usually the car will run hotter so you would use a med plug. Big blocks, .21 and larger use med, cold plugs.

Status: offline 		Information on glow plugs.

The general rule regarding glow plugs and nitro fuel is:

The higher the nitro percentage, the colder the plug should be.

Conversely:

The lower the nitro percentage, the hotter the plug should be.



MC-4C: 4-cycle engines

MC-55: The MC-55 is considered a hot plug and is designed to run on fuel with a low nitro content. Applications for this plug would be planes, tether cars, etc.

MC-59: Like the MC-55, the MC-59 is considered a hot plug. The difference between the 55 and 59 is that the MC-59 is designed to run on fuel with a higher nitro content (low to medium nitro content) than the MC-55. Applications: Boats, planes, heilcopters, and cars.

MC-8: The MC-8 is a medium to cold plug, deisgned to run on fuels with a medium to high nitro content. Applications: Boats, cars, and planes.

MC-9: The McCoy MC-9 is considered a cold plug and is designed to run on fuels with a medium to high nitro content. Applications: Cars, boats, ducted fan and Giant Scale planes.

MC-14: The MC-14 is a hot plug, designed for helicopters and 4-stroke engines.

From reading just these bits of info on McCoy's plugs, you can easily see that general rule...if you're running fuel with a high nitro percentage, you should be using a glow plug that's considered to be a "cold" plug. Conversely, if you're running a low nitro content in your fuel, you should be using a "hot" plug.

The following are lists of OS and Novarossi plugs. These plugs follow the same nitro/heat range rules as demonstrated with the McCoy's plugs.

OS PLUGS

OSMG6300- #0 Economy standard plug similar to the O.S. #8.
OSMG6304- #1 Hot plug for low nitro (0-5%).
OSMG6308- #3 Medium plug for medium nitro (5-25%).
OSMG6312- #5 Cold plug for high nitro (25% +).
OSMG6316- #7 2 stroke engines requiring an idle bar.
OSMG2691- #8 "The" standard. For use in all 2 strokes, any nitro.
OSMG6320- #9 For general use in 2 stroke engines.
OSMG2692- #F For O.S and other four strokes.


Novarossi Plugs

10001 R1 Extra hot from .8 TO 2CC
10002 R2 Hot from2 TO 3.5CC
10003 R3 Medium from 3.5 TO 6CC
10004 R4 Cold from 6 TO 10CC
10005 R5 Extra cold for nitro fuel and RC
10006 R6 Cold for nitro from 10 - 13CC
10007 R7 Cold for nitro from 13 - 15CC
10008 R8 Super Cold for nitro from 15-30CC
10010 RC Hot for RC from 2.5 TO 6CC
10020 RC Cold for RC from 6 TO 15CC
10011 G1 Hot for R15 Speed
10022 G2 Medium for R15 Speed
10033 G3 Cold for nitro fuel from 18%-30% for R15 Speed.
10044 G4 Extra cold for nitro fuel from 30%-15% for R15 Speed
10055 G5 Extra cold for nitro fuel from 50%-70% for R15 Speed.

Status: offline 		i just noticed that on my tornado the clutch it dragging a little. when i move it back and forth i can hear it drag a little. i dont think the spring is broken b/c it still can idle without stalling. anyway to ajust this???

Status: offline 		My new Volcano did the same thing. after break in, the rubbing was Gone. Mebbe there are some pieces of material sticking off the clutch shoes left over from the manufacturing process.ou should be OK. The clutch will Wear and Seat itself. As long as the car idles and clutch does not grab, You should be OK.
If you DO have to replace the Clutch bell bearings, it is an easy job.

Status: offline 		oh and today when i was driving it i decided to try to adjest the 2 speed to make it shift earlyer and by accedent i lossened the wrong scew and it fell out. when i put the screw back in i wasent sure if that round piece that the scew go's in had to go a certain way on the shaft.

Ok.... Fixed this Problem, It WAS an air leak. Was leaking where the carb is attached to the engine. I tightened the screw that secures the carb, but it would still leak. Ended up sealing the leak with some black RTV silicon. ( article in a Magazine showed how to do it. )
It was amazing that this Tiny air leak could so completely bugger up the way my engine ran. At those High temps, it would have quickly destroyed my engine if it hadnt been fixed.

Status: offline 		Ok, well my dad rolled by Tornado BB, breaking off the antenna as well as exposing a black ring on the back left drive shaft. The black ring is about as wide as a dime and very thin. I really have no idea where this ring goes. I did not want to dive in taking it apart, so I thought to ask where it should be located, and how to fix it.

Need some help....
I want to install an HPI header which I bought from Tower. Problem is that the Manifold opening is not the same size. Seems wrong to me. These two pictures tell the story. Will it work?

Well, I have had the car running rich during break in. The car has always wanted to jump around, but have used the throttle trim and low speed needle to tune that down. Well with 5 tanks ran through it for the break-in, I am now trying to dial this thing in. Here is where my problems start. I get my opening in the carb about 1 mm (enough for a toothpick and maybe a hair more - estimate), and the low speed needle is flush with the metal around it, and the high speed 3 turns out. With this setting the car does not start and floods. Ok, I think great. So now I tune the low speed down a half - no flooding but jerking all around. My dad has tried several combos with these results: flood, not enough gas, start stop, and stall. I have watched the videos on tuning and get the rich and lean. My problem I believe is the low speed needle and the idle - which to tinker with for setting it to idle still yet have good acceleration. If anyone can help me get this tuned down, I think I will have it whooped.

if you have an engine that just wont tune, try changing the plug first, os a3 or any other hot plug. start with base settings, 2 1/2 out on the high and flus to a little less than flush on the collar on the low. Once started, tune from there, heres a couple of videos for you to watch.

Status: offline 		Alright i have an idea. On a normal car engine you can put in a turbo, wich basicly forces air into the intake so you can run more fuel through it giving you more horsepower. What if I hook up a system using compressed CO2? Would it hurt the engine to run compressed CO2 through it instead of the normal air?

Status: offline 		Yea, I really cannot get the idle set. I know 1 mm sounds easy, but it seems like no matter which way I move the idle needle, the opening does not open or close - what a pain. Also, this tune in sucks when the temperature outside is 17 degrees - so having to do some of it inside. I may wait to tune when the weather hits at least 50. However, for right now I can tune in our shop, but this idle screw is kicking my butt.

Status: offline 		you should put the throttle trim at neutral (center) and put the servo arm so the throttle is 1mm open and brake is not on, then you will have some trim to work with. maybe your arm is in a bad position, reposition it.
