Hello,

We are hard at work designing our newest family member. 40% Sukhoi SU26mx. We will have finial specs in a few weeks and will have the first flying in late July in the Russian scheme. I have attached some of what we do in 3D to give you an idea how we design and draw or products.

Thanks

John

Looks good, I like the idea of old designs coming back, like the 260, the 300 midwing, sukhoi, and even the giles are becoming more popular again. Any particular reason for going with the su-26 over the su-31?

Hello,

The SU31 doesnt have the same sleek lines as the SU26. Such as the canopy, turtle deck etc. Perfromance wise for models there would be no difference. SO we chose the Su26.

John,

I've owned a few different -26's in my hobby career (H9, Goldberg, Ohio R/C) and all of them have had terrible pitch coupling tendencies. I was told that this is a flaw inherent to the design. I've messed with stab placement and CG location on my Sukhois, but never really much more than that to try to eliminate the pitch coupling.

Do you think it true that it's a design flaw, and do you think the pitch coupling can be designed out of the plane?

Thanks,

Pete

I flew two in the 90's AHS and I don't remember much if any pitch/coupling problems. They must have got it right off the bat. I never used computer radios back then so I would definitly had to work with it. It was a pretty flying airplane I do remember that much. Can't wait for another nice looking scale one.

You should include a spot on the side under the canopy for clear covering (to see in the fuse). That way we can simulate the extra window that the Su-26 has without addind weight for Lexan.

The wing looks really high.
Looks like a Yak 54 with a different top, also including that lower stringer that runs right threw the wing root.
Maybe thats what the 26 needs, is to fly more like a 54.
Good luck with the kit John and keep us posed on it's development.
I have always been partial to 26s.
Thanks for all of your hard work.
