I ordered my fa 100 today, I hope the plane gets in before the engine. I hate waiting, I had hope that the plane was going to be in today but no luck.

Anyone thinking about electro?

I am looking for a new plane and the first idea was an fliton extra 330... but i love the way a edge performs 3D. Maybe i'll go with the edge 540

My setup:
Motor: Strecker 378.30
Esc: Hacker Master 77 Opto
Batt: 8s2p ThunderPower Pro-lites
Prop: 18x10 for 6300g thrust

The plane will weight a lot but i need the 8s (and have them already) for 1300W+ of power.

I got my Edge 540 today!!! Friend did bring it up from Singapore for me ... she is a beauty, I do find the trims rather plain compared with the FL Extra 330. I will be now building both the Extra and Edge and getting them with the AXI 4130/16. Anyone got their's up yet?

Reno, how is the build coming? I just got word that mine is still a week out. Guess I will have time to break in the 100 real well.

Just finished dialing in the CG on the EF Extra300. Now I have the bench cleared off...it's a start anyway!

LOL! Hey, it is officially "on the bench" now. Started by cutting out the slots for the servos last night. The mount is recessed into the wing...I like that. Think I will need to put some wood over the large holes in the motor mount before I epoxy brush that for the Saito. Don't like the thought of glow fuel getting inside the fuse... No WAY is this getting done by the weekend! Steve

The 100 has almost a gallon through it on the bench and it is turning 10,100 running very lean. I cant wait until tuesday to get this plane. Any updates yet Reno? Please list any issues that you might come upon. This thing seems almost too good to be true.....real light and real strong.

Chris, I think the Saito100 is about a perfect match for this plane.

I started putting it together tonight. Man, just from sitting out a few days my covering is way wrinkled. Have to spend some quality time with a heat gun to get that back in line! Had to open up the servo bay just a bit to get the JR sport digitals to fit.

Just a note about the hardware that comes with this plane. And let me qualify first by saying I am no way a hardware "snob". I have used the included stuff on just about every plane I have ever built (not quite sure what that says about me, but I have a pretty good guess ) Anyway, the hardware that comes with the plane is really pretty crummy. I will be using other hardware from around the shop instead. The black dubro horn shown is what I will use for the ailerons instead of the aluminum horns. Really think it stinks that a 200+ ARF comes with such junk for hardware. Inexcusable.

Steve

I'd use 5245's in the tail on the elevator and maybe even on the ailerons. 635HB on rudder and something high speed on the aileron's. Run it all on 6V or higher. I used some Li-Po's with a reg on my 330.

I agree, the Saito 100 will rock. I used a 91 cause I had it already and it's superb.

I see wehave no flight reports yet. TIANCI I figured you would have one in the air by now ! I am thinking of ordering one myself and putting the 330 away. I am having a hard time with that one though I guess I will wait to see some flight reports.

Wings are on. This is a pretty good size plane for a "40" size! Thinking about either epoxy or some gorilla glue in the wing joiners along with a nylon tie around those ply hooks to make sure the wing stays where it ought to. I have a truck so transportation is not an issue. Also, here is a pic of the completed aileron link. No way would I trust 2 tiny screws stuck only 1/2 way through the aileron to hold. Very nice lightweight Carbon Fiber wing tube included in the kit. Wings fit into the cutouts perfectly, and with no adjustment they are perfectly straight. Next come the tail feathers. Steve

There is very little outward force on the wings while in flight. A single rubberband on the ply hooks is more than enough to hold the wings on. If you CA the holes for the screws on the aileron horn they will hold fine also. This is a small plane and doesn't need to be over thought or re-engineered.

Basin - the hook bit with rubber bands made me feel queezy! I guess they have tested it and know what they are talking about. When are you coming for my next outing?

Extra - same here ... been busy and hardly am in the mood to build and fly. My WM SuperChipmunk took me about 3 weeks to complete when it could have only taken 3 days!
