The instructions in the plans were off for my Saito 100, so I measured the distance from the front of the cowl to the back (about 135mm). Then measured the distance from where the cowl would mount to the front of the motor (where the prop mounts). Just leave space for the prop to spin.

Looks like mixed reviews as w/ most Fliton ARF's but I ordered one Saturday anyway. It looks good and once it's built the flying reviews are pretty positive. Looks great in their video too

I have both a Saito 82 and 91 brand new in the box, can't decide which for this.

I am primarily looking for quasi realistic aerobatic performance and not all out 3D; and would like
to not be worried about overstressing the airframe so I am leaning towards the 82.

Sound about right?

Both are good engines; kind of a toss-up. Some might say the .91 is actually a smoother running engine, though. Almost identical power.

anyone have more pictures of their edge freestyle setup, gas in particular? i just picked one up and am thinking of a saito 82 or a 100. saw one at a local fly-in and fell in love, what a great plane...

Would an MDS .78 work well on the edge? I currently have it in a Funtana .40 and have great performance. I am wanting a new plane and wonder if the Fliton edge would work well with a MDS .78

Thanks Joe

a buddy has the saito 82 in his and he loves it. it has been his favorite airplane for about 3 months running and i dont blame him. I dont know too much about the MDS .78, but i imagine it would be a great power system with the right nitro mixture. im thinking 20%? the plane is sweet ...

Right now it is just behind the carbon wing tube, I might need to move it forward a little bit, but I'm going to try it here first. I'd say the CG is at about 4.5" behind the leading edge. Anyone have some suggestions?

I had one of these, which unfortunately met an untimely end. However, it was one of the sweetest flying planes I've ever owned. I also mounted a Saito 100 and had to add a little weight to the firewall (can't remember how much) to get it to balance at the recommended point. I'm not a 3-Dr, but it flew beautifully, and I could do low inverted flybys with complete confidence.

One change that I feel is mandatory is that I used a carb spring to hold the wings together. The first time I tried to take off with rubber bands holding the wings, the right one pulled loose and caused a rather dramatic nose over right at the moment of liftoff, which resulted i nsome customizing of the cowl. You can go to a local discount auto store and buy a variety of carb springs for less than $5.00. Oh, by the way, the supplied control horns are complete garbage. I had an elevator horn break in half in flight, but fortunately I landed with no trouble. I don't know why they supply horns that can be bent like a piece of paper. Replacing all horns with cheap plastic ones solved that problem.

One other thing to watch for; due to the VERY light weight of this model, be very careful when taxiing with some tailwind. Without fail, the plane will nose over if no elevator is dialed in while taxiing.

Good luck on the maiden!

Thanks for the suggestion on the carb springs, I'll get some on my way to the field.
I replaced all of the control horns with Du-Bros because they felt so flimsy. Hopefully
mine will fly as good as everyone says it will.

Maidened her today and she flew great. The best knife-edge I have ever flown and harriers were very easy. I only flew her twice, but I will get her out next weekend for sure. Great plane.

Ok I got to maiden my edge last weekend.
This plane is sweet, im so happy with it right now. Knife edge has not coupling to the belly or the cockpit, just the slightest roll. Very little.
And I just got a new video camera last night. so I hope to have video soon, depends on weather, right now I have 2 inches of snow but it should melt by Saturday.

So to some it up im very happy with the plane I only have 6 flights on it but the plane has no bad habits. Landings are slow and easy. It. fly’s bigger then it is and the color scheme presents well in the sky.
So far my favorite thing to do with it is the high Alfa knife edges.

How is the landing gear holding up?
I heard some talk of the gear breaking and not taking much abuse.

Hey guys got to fly this morning with skis on the plane. It affected it a little but not much but I got some vid but not much. Dad thought he was recording but forgot to push the button lol. i will shoot more vid over the next few weekends and hopefully get a good vid.
The thing I love the most about this plane is the knife edges. They are so sweet. And on the planes 7 flight im bringing it down in a high Alfa knife edge at about 2 to 3 foot. the plane fly’s so stable.

hey guys, this is making me want to go fly mine again. I haven't flown it in a while but I do love it. I am having a little trouble with my gear . it's cracked pretty bad and is real wobbly on landing I'm afreaid it might break and do some damage to the plane. Other than that, I love the way this one flies!
