looks nice and its got to be lighter than a sullivan skywriter.... but how you do guys feel about running the pump off the RX battery? i know some guys say it is a bad idea, but is it really likely to mess up? saves a whole lot of weight to get that extra batt. out.

HI all I"ve seen posts as far back as 2001, if it didn"t work, they would not be still selling them also I have not seen any negative posts about these pumps.

Looks like a nice unit. Any idea what is the current draw? Then it may be possible to estimate the additional battery capacity required.

Thanks Pete! 150mA sounds good. "Use only 3W smoke fluid" - That's a commercial right? Anyone tried superdri or almag on this unit? How does it hold up?

50cc is the place to start, just depends if you're willing to add the pound or so of weight

24 oz is nice for that size

Yea I hear ya on the weight..thats whats keeping me from putting one in

Im thinking about adding a pound on my cg to see how the plane performs with the added weight..at least that way Ill have a good indication before i go and buy a smoke pump.

if you get one get the 3W- no extra batteries required so tank plus plumbing plus pump you're only adding 8 oz i'm guessing- the real weight is the weight of the smoke fluid! you can always pull the pump and battery like i do when i want the extra performance.

Its worth it when you see how beautiful it is in the sky.... everyones different tho
