VP racing, or a sprint car supply place. I couldn't tell any difference when I added it to my fuel. I'm almost sorry I bought it, as it was about $40/gal. Why would you want it?

I have some books on building your own four strokes from a highly respected german engineer. There are some chapters in it on fuel mixtures, lubricants and power boosters. It is supposed to act as an anti-knock agent. If the effect is so minimal, I guess there's no point in paying big bucks for it... One of them engineers also talks about the use of TETRAnitromethane. It would be capable of boosting power like 500% in the right engine...contains more oxygen as liquid oxygen! It would be impossible to stop the engine with the throttle however. Highly explosive stuff, avoid, avoid! But, interesting reading.

I would not use this stuff. It is nasty to work with. It has a low flash point and really stinks. I think it is toxic as well. I had to use it to make racing fuel for a carrier flyer in the 70's. We used 70% nitro and 10% PO along with 20% of a special synthetic oil. I only made one liter at a time. The purpose of the PO was to light the nitro and make sure it all burned. I don't think anyone needs to use it these days. Very expensive now and not worth the trouble and hazard. Regards, Duane

Yeah, the only time I've seen it used is with very high nitro fuels, exactly like you said. I thought it would be like nitro. The sprint car guys add 10% to their methanol. The mechanic said the rule of thumb was open up the jets by the same % as the propylene oxide you use. 15% propylene oxide, open the jets by 15%. But it doesn't seem to react that way in our fuels.
