An extra switch, spinner bolt, stopper, line, battery is all thats really extra. I had no issues with radio. You will save a ton of cash on fuel. Figure what that 160 consumes in ten minutes vrs gas which is nothing. Besides, it is cool to go out and flip the prop and you running, idle a long time. You will see and you will be glad. If you plan on more planes 2.4 is the next best thing.

I used a 7cap fm with no problems at all. Electronic ignition is the way to go-starts with a simple flip of the prop. You will love not hassling with the glow driver and starters. This will save alot on fuel if you fly the plane alot. That 160 burns up 16 oz in no time. Figure 8 flights to a gallon at 15 to 20 bucks. A gallon of gas and a little oil-fly 1/2 the summer-with no mess. I'm trying to make you feel better! Trust me you will like it. If you don't like it, go back to glow, paper towels, high cost fuel and lots of spray cleaner.

I am over the sticker shock and now I am just excited to get the items! I can't wait to try gas. I needed a new radio anyway so it's money well spent.

Thanks Frenchie for all your advice and encouragement! I'll post updates when I start the build next week.

No problem-I'm new with mine also. Out of 14 planes I have 1 gasser and two electric, rest are glow. The gasser for some reason just feels so much more real when your taxiing to the runway-real exciting. Good luck.

Tazzz-You asked if i had any problems with gear-I have not. I had a few really bad landings-bounce the hell out of it and nothing. I'm hoping I have a wednesday built plane insead of a Friday. They just may have dumped enough glue on mine.

SBrian, would you mind sending me the same pics? Is yours tested yet? I have been working on my conversion and have epoxied laminated pieces of 1/4" plywood into the fuselage. I started by cutting out a section of the fuselage where the gear will mount. I then cut one piece of ply as wide as the fuse and 2 1/2" long. Glued it in. This piece also attaches to the 1/2" square balsa in the nose. I then cut another piece of ply and laminated it to the first piece. Both of these pieces are also glued to the bulkhead. Seems to be pretty strong. Hopefully it will hold up.

I'm with Eric...I'm putting my SS together with a Fuji 32EI. After reading all the horror stories on RFI, I decided to go with the 7C 2.4. I was gonna put my 7C FM in it but figured just like Eric; I could always use the new tech in another gasser.

Besides, at my field there's another guy on "my" channel and I think he lives in the shed , (he's always there and I have to ask for the pin, he thinks it's his)!

The 2.4 should solve that, at least for my SS. One-by-one, I'll spring for receivers and re-equip my "fleet" with 2.4.

Enjoy....keep up the thread, lots of good info here!

Well a photo is worth a thousand words. I hope the photos shows what you are looking for! To get that extra special fit around the wings I push the opposite wing in till it touched the inside of gear and marked an out-line of the wing on the gear and ground down the glass with a Dremel tool to the shape of the wing. Next I place Wax Paper on the wing to protect the wing from the filler I used on the area where I ground down the glass. Note: I used lite weight Auto filler. It’s fast and sand well and it is very strong.

Next bolt the Gears on, add the filler to ground area and push wing into the filler to form that custom fit, Sand and paint. Note: When you grind down the glass give your self a little extra room for the filler.

If you have questions give me a shout….

Steve
