I too flew the sim today at the LHS. I fly a Funtana .90, so it seemed natural to try it on the sim. It flew just like the real thing. My throttle is different due to having a Saito 1.20 in my model. I hovered the sim at 5/8 throttle. Mine will do it at 1/2. Now I know how it flys will the Saito 100. I need FSOne.

Great post Moorman! I know I do seem obsessed with G3.(no I don't have a tatoo... lol ) It's because I feel that it's the best sim.(G3.5 is really awsome!) FSone has a few problems right now, but I fully expect that within a year, it will be fixed. From what I saw of it in my LHS, I think that it will be an incredible sim very soon. Michael Selig and everyone around him have done a terrific job on it and I'm very impressed by this product as a first offering. I will probably always be a G3 fan due to all my friends being on multiplayer, but I may get FSone when I get back into flying RC planes. I know that when G3 first came out, part of the hype was that it was harder to fly than reality. Now G3 has softened a bit. FSone is a bit harder to fly than G3. Now that I think about it, I will probably buy FSone. I'm always striving to be a better pilot. Like I've said in other threads, the real issue with any sim is the editor. If the editor in FSone passes my expectations, then I'm 99% sure I will buy it.

Now I'm going to get off this thread until I own FSone.......

50%

Thanks! It's frustrating not being able to get a hands-on run at it myself. Sorry for being so direct, but it lets me know whether your opinions are straight up or if they're always going to be in favor of G3. Since you didn't get all defensive on me, your opinions are golden, and I look foreward to when you get the opportunity play w/ FSone in more depth.

I agree with 50%, FSOne is a solid product. The flight characteristics are much better than what I remember G3's being like when it first came out. FSOne is rough around the edges and could have used another 6 months of development. Perhaps Intertiasoft should take a page from Google, Yahoo, Microsoft, and open up a semi-public "Beta" of the product in order to get feedback and work out issues, rather than selling the product full of bugs and making it's paying customers beta users.

The only real gripe I have are the 3D graphics, which are not better than G3.

Hi Michael, no, looks like nothing is helping, I uninstalled the program and re-installed it, reinstalled the MB USB 2.0 driver, only other devices I have plugged in are my printer and scanner, both (USB) and a flight yoke (Virtual Pilot Pro) along with rudder pedals but they are connected to the game port on the Soundblaster board. I unplugged them all and the only device hooked up is this usb interface. As mentioned before, the only screen I ever get trying to run the program is the error message window I see no other screen displays. I will play a little with it today and if nothing good happens I will call support tomorrow I am wondering if maybe something is wrong with this USB interface box, it is a dongle isn't it ??? Thanks a lot to you all for your suggestions.... Manny

Hey Manny, not sure if you've tried this yet, but go to your control panel and then click on the "game controllers" icon. Do you see the TacCon displayed there? If so, click on the properties button. There may be a couple boxes on the properties screen that represent the movement of the game controller. When moving the sticks on the TacCon, does anything happen on the screen? If not, then perhaps the TacCon is defective.

I installed FS One. Very awesome physics. Only flaw I can find is in knife edge flight. Doesn't seem to generate enough side lift. Other than that, perfect flight characteristics. Could use a few more aircraft... hopefully that will come soon.

When you plug in your FS One USB interface and check it in the Game Controllers tool (via Control Panel), what name appears?

It should be "Hangar9 FS One v1" and the status should be OK. Is this what you are seeing?

Anyone having trouble with the sound cutting out? I am down to minimal graphics and not playing music but the engine sound keeps skipping. Doesn't affect flight/graphics performance but is certainly aggravating.

(Very) Glad to hear that you like the physics. If you want to tweak
the side force (using the editor) I can outline some steps
to do that.

There are more airplanes than you might be aware of.

In addition to the airplanes in the default list (first category),
there's a second category that includes variants of the 30 or so
originals. There are over 70 additional variants (airplanes) in FS
One. They range from a 3-inch span Aerobird Xtreme to an electric
ducted-fan park flyer BVM Bobcat jet up to many full-size airplanes like
the Ultimate aerobatic biplane with a constant-speed propeller just like
full-scale. In each case, the Scaling Wizard scales the model size,
mass, propulsion system, aerophysics, etc. Everything is automatic, but
you can selectively override the auto-scaling and change the airplane
weight, motor, propeller, etc to your specifications to match a known
model or create an entirely new airplane based on one of the originals.

There's now a new FAQ item that includes the full list of ~70 variants:

I heard about the 30 plus airplanes and helis in the sim, but where are
the 70 extra scaled variants? (Q1021-FS1, 10/15/06)

The graphics and music will have nothing to do w/ the engine sounds.

For engine sounds, does this FAQ item help?:

I am having issues with the sound quality in FS One. Is there a setting that I can change to fix this? (Q1014-FS1, 10/14/06)

The latest patch (to eliminate cg range limitations) is available at:

FS One Patch 1.0.3

It should also be available on the FS One product website sometime on Monday (16-Oct).

Hi, Brian, riotgear. Thanks for the reply. When I go to the 'Game Controllers" window via the control panel this is what I get. when I plug in the FS One controller interface I get the usual beep and at the same time see a device being added to the controllers window. The TacCon is being identified as, ... ( 8 axis 0 button device with a status of OK). I click on properties and get a test window. In it I am able to visually to see 7 different patterns, one of which is a square with the cross hair in the middle the other 6 are vertical (Red) bars with the following labels beneath them,...( The square.. Xaxis/Yaxis ), ( Red color bars.. Zax.., Xro.., Yro.., Zro.. Dial, Slid.. ). Each of the controls on the TacCon do change its corresponding display in the previously mentioned patterns. .... Manny
