Sorry guys...(I thought you all died) anyway her'e are some of the things I can remember doing to a two year old Chaos. (Yes, I brought it to work today to do a couple tach runs on our new concrete.) Here's a list in no specific order:1.Re-fiil shocks with sil. oil. 2. Put small slivers of fuel line in all drive cups to keep dogbones centered. 3.Replace cheap stock tires with Mini Inferno. They have a buttload of styles and price should be about $15.00 at LHS; double check the glue job and add a little CA anywhere it feels suspect. 4. Shorten fuel line to about 1". 5.Lock center differential ( I used J-B Weld). 6. Rebuild front and rear spider gears and seal/fill with silicon oil. 7. Install Trinity metal 14 tooth pinions and outdrive cups; Seal entire diff with silicon sealer and drill small holes at top of housing to refill diffs with silicon oil. I found little, tiny red plastic cap plugs at Home Depot for about .50 cents which makes it easy to refill and visually check the crown gear. When done properly these gears give it more top end that the stock 12 tooth. The mesh is real good with none, or maybe one shim. This seems to have solved my most serious problem. I did the change about a year ago, and no major gear meltdowns to date... 8. We all know that the stock electronics is dogmeat, so I installed a Spectrum DX3 and Hitec servos (HS-65 MG or HB work great with very few mods). 9. I got a Vulcan air cleaner to replace the goofy stock set-up. Also the not quite so hideous-looking Vulcan body fits nicely with a couple small mods. I got a bunch of Vulcan parts at Hobby People for super low prices since it was discontinued a while back; appearently they had even more issues than Chaos') 10 .Of course check and tighten all fasteners, locktight as needed. 11. Replace bottom motor mounts with allen head type. It goes on and on like this... I'll try to send a few pics...
