It was a lot of fun racing the IGT cars on the big track.

All of you guys & girls out there with Kyosho Inferno GT cars should try getting a racing program going at your local tracks it's a blast!

Hey, I noticed that all pinions above 23t are 16mm diameter. I wanted to convert my IGT to centax clutch just to use those pinion gears. But, apparently my LST2 clutch bell comes with a 12mm and 16mm slot. I wanted to know if anybody here has tried the lst2 clutch bell with 16mm pinions? If so, what modifications are needed? Pictures would be good. Thanks.

Thanks, but I just got lucky starting at the last position in the Final.

The track was wet because of the Florida rain storm, so I used the "Twister/ATS" tires. They have threads, so I thought they would be better for the race than using the v-slicks.

After the race was over, Joel Johnson of Kyosho America told me the the actual winner was running v-slicks for the Main, go figure....

i guess in the end, good drivers adjust to changes in the enviroment & equipment available to them.

Hey, I have a question regarding Peak Racing Diablo .28 engine. Somebody offered me a new one for $100. Is is worth it or should I get the LRP .28 Spec 3? The link below shows the torque of each engine at different RPM. I have 2 diablo engines so far, Diablo .18 and Diablo .15. Both are very reliable and the .18 has tons of power. I want to know if the Diablo .28 will provide more power than my current Sportwerks .26. Or is it better to just get a LRP .28? Please let me know, thanks.

Hey, I've been scouring the thread - I think I may have already posted in it before, but once again, I'm thinking of getting an IGT.. I see - again - people saying you have to convert to single speed.., which I find a bit of a turn-off.. Is it really still an absolute MUST?? I'd probably get the Aston version.. I assume they haven't improved anything in the last year or so??..

Right now I think it'd be between a new IGT, or a used Serpent or Evolva or Mugen or something.. There's a great onroad track near me, and I just want something bigger and faster than my Kyosho FW-05T to mess around with.. No real racing.. Also, here in Germany Kyosho seems easier to get parts for..

Anyway, I read somewhere in the thread about having to invest a lot of money in the IGT.. What exactly was meant by that??

If someone would be so kind.., could you give me a run-down list of any "musts" for getting started with an IGT? Much appreciated...

Thanks..

Yea, this is what will cost you money:

New tires & wheels: $60
New brake pads & brake disc = $50
New radio system (old one lacks distance and gets glitchy) = $100 - $300 depending on what you want
stabilizer rods (front & rear) = $30
new shock springs, shock oil, and drivetrain oil = $40

That should be good enough. The stock shock springs are stiff and is very good for parking lot bashing. If you want to go track racing, then you definitely should change it to something softer like the blue springs.

The stock motor and gears should get you up close to 50 mph. The stock motor has tons of bottom end torque but lacks serious rpms.

You don't have to go single speed. Single speed is only if you want to hit super high speed. I personally run a sportwerks .26 engine with second gear as HPI 23t pinion x Stock Kyosho 43t spur. My car is seriously fast. Right now, my tires are worn out and the car would do about 10-15 feet sideways before going straight. Too fast, engine revs up and tears the tires apart. I can do about 70+ mph. The guys with single speed can do close to about 80 mph. The car is extremely fast. You should talk to people at the track before buying an IGT though. Maybe they might suggest something else. The IGT is just great for me.

The flaw for the IGT is the shift spot for gear 2 would wear out easily. Some guy is selling a custom created second gear on ebay that will last 4ever. I will post the link later on.

Thanks.. After looking and asking around a bit, I think the IGT is the right deal for me.. For starters I think I'll just get some new foam tires.. Radio I have...

A German dude here said something abot the pins in the tranny going bad every gallon and a half or so, so to have those on hand..

I have a practically new Mach 427 just sitting there, so maybe I'd sell the Kyosho engine new for 50 bucks, and recoup some dough.. I'm a big Mach fan anyway..

Now when I go on ebay and look up foam tires ("moosgummi" here in German..), are they all the same, or are there different hex sizes etc..?? Would I also run those big fat wide rear tires I see on the high end race cars??

If you don't mind, a link to some stabi rods would be great too.. But I'll check the bay right now.. Thanks again for your help..

biggin69, just go to google and type it in. I am using the blue ones from Sportwerks but it is bad because it raises the car all the way since it is so long. I know Kyosho makes specific ones for the Inferno GT so try to find it on google. I believe they are $10-$15 each. You can get the sportwerks Mayhem version for $5 each and just cut it to make it shorter. My suggestion is really to get the ones from Kyosho for the IGT. It is more but it should be good.

No, its not essential to convert to a single speed. I dont blame you for thinking its a turn off, I love 2 speed too, just not the IGT 2 speed

Theres a good variety of choices in how to fix it or change it. Most are easy and relatively inexpensive.

It depends what you want to do with your car ofcourse, the IGT is fun and has lots of bonuses, but it needs work, and if your considering one of those 1/8 tourers you mentioned you need to know that there is no comparison in quality between the 2. Everything about the touring cars is far superior.

But again if your looking for street racing and versatility then thats the IGT's strength.
