Damn, Mugen MR28 (top of the line). I emailed wolfpack radicals for a single speed conversion because they made one for a customer. If they offer single speed, then I am sold. I tried all kinds of things on my IGT already. I tried using bearings; using single speed from nrs4; and other stuff. Did not work. When I had my stock IGT with GXR28, it had this problem every so often because the engine doesn't kick in so hard when it shifts. Maybe my shift point is too high making the cam arm hit the plastic part very hard. Well, I will see what happens.

Hey, check out my Sportwerks .26 conversion on my RS4 with mugen 1/8 foam wheels in the link below. Tell me what you think.

its nice i set one up like that a long time ago, but found out quickly belt drive was a way better system for high speed fun i heard wolfpack stopped makeing those mounts u know if that tru?

quote:

I was recently converting my Savage to a 3 spd and you end up with a spare two spd changer.so i needed a new 2nd gear for my IGT......anyways i bored out the new kyosho gear to fit the metal insert from the savage, transfered the screw holes, and used the hpi changer(dia. is smaller than kyosho's).next will test to see if its an improvement or just different.will keep posted.

more pics shows how the clutch hub bolts to kyosho 2nd gear and other pics shows the difference between the two clutch holders smaller one bolts right up.the clutch hub is hardened so it should last a while.cars back together have to wait for the weather to test

im sure the link will get deleted but here is is anyways

I believe the bearings he used is the replacement for the bushings that everybody is using. I think it is 6x10x4mm or 6x10x12mm (kind of forgot).

That is probably the best mod I have seen so far. I gave mines a try but the lhs didn't have the savage one. So, I went with the ofna one. I encountered a little problem, for some reason it doesn't rotate freely once it is put on. I will order the savage one and try it out. Maybe that will solve the problem.

Hey Miami, got a question for you. I want to do 80mph w/ the IGT using single speed. For single speed, how can I set it up? Revo spur, serpent single speed one way, what else? Do I have to drill a hole in the shaft like some guy did on the IGT forum or can I just shim and space it? Let me know, thanks.

you got it, with the one way u will not need to drill a hole just shim it so it sits where you need it, but with your motor i would go single speed since it doesnt have the toruqe 2 push the gearing AND the car 2 80MPH, infact ull prolly over gear it and it wont run right, after alot of testing and work WITH A FRESH NEW SET OF TIRES i pulled out 75 MPH with a STOCK novarossi 528 8port motor in about 400 feet of space PLUS another 200 feet to stop with with out ripping the tires 2 shreads with your motor the most ill see you geting is 60-65 MPH, i did 75 MPH with 26/36 gearing.........

and ull need one hell of a clutch the aluminum mugen shoes work great with the gold springs

Kool, thanks for the reply. I am going to run lst2 26t w/ revo 34t spur in the future. I might get a .21 engine so I can rev it all the way and hit 80mph. Damn .21s don't come with pull start. I found a company that does pull start conversion but they charge like $150. You guys know anybody that charges cheaper than that? I want to get a Rossi black magic 125r21 because the head looks cool, but it's a damn freaken non-pull start. I don't want a starter box, it sucks.

Question, what is the main difference between .21s and .28s in your opinion? I know .21s are high revving and .28s are all about bottom end torque. What are the other advantages and disadvantages?

a 21 isnt gonig to work well becuase you also have to count in POWER to WEIGHT ratio, buddy u name it ive tryed it lol i ran a ninja 21 offroad in the inferno and geared it 25/38 and was pulling 68 MPH simply becuase the motor could not rev rember 2 stroke motor's are very limited its very easy to over gear them the ninja 21 offroad with 25/36 gearing would not even break 30 MPH (stock ninja not modded) the 21's work very well in 1/10 cars becuase there is so little weight to move around but with the buggy its kinda a pain in the ass, the 28's on the market right now for high speed fun are really great normally yes a 28 is more tourque and less RPM but technolgy has changed that alot, the picco 28 P3 at 200 dollars is a animal and i have gotten 2 73 MPH with it stock, the novarossi 528 at 350 bucks pulled out 75MPH stock and pretty much stayed there, BUT now there are 2 exeption 28 size motors that can REALLY RUN up and out rev some 21's and that is the ninja 28 and os 28 both of those motors scream like there is no tomorrow but i havent seen some one set it up in a buggy correctly, i picked up a ninja 28 2 months ago but have no had the chance 2 test it out i put it in one of my inferno gt with 26/36 gearing and will test it out i should break 80 MPH with no problem but ill post my results when i test everything

and about starter boxs sucking??? bro the starter box is the best way 2 start your motor period no more burnt rotor or spin starts, the 12V gell cell can last all day while the 7.2 packs die, no one way bearing slipping its honestly the best system period the fact u just put the car on the box put ur ignitor on and push down and your car fires up, man it doesnt get any easier than that, plus you can always connect your start box to your 1:1 car battery and with that ull never run out of starting up power (also it makes breaking in motors alot easier)

but if u really dont want a star box id suggest geting the picco 28 with the pull start and then geting the losi spin start back plate that will cost you only 6 dollars that way you can use the spin starter system you already have

On Sunday, the Kyosho Inferno GT Spec Class invaded the world famous Fort Meyers R/C race track!

Our Spec Class racers had the opportunity to show that the IGT can compete on "The Test Track To The World".

All of the cars performed very well with no problems. All with the factory stock engines, clutches and transmissions enjoyed a great day of racing at "The Fort" and they all finished the 15 min A Main without missing a beat.

Thanks to everyone at Fort Meyers for the chance to race the IGT on the legend.

There will be another "Club" race at Fort Meyers towards the end of July.

Any IGT racers that want to enjoy racing on this "beast" of a track should think about checking it out, it was a lot of fun.
