Hey losifiend, I ran my inferno gt at 230-250 degrees but the car keeps on overheating and it's really hard to start the engine. I was wondering how many turns from flush did you set the high speed needle? Also, this resulted in the engine burning out the glow plug (multiple times). I don't understand the inferno gt, it's really hard to keep the temperature steady if I bash around the parking lot back and fourth. I would have to bash a couple of laps then run it slowly until it cools before i can bash again. Any suggestions would be great. Thank you.

If its getting to 230-250 it sounds like you're at the rite settings. As long as you dont get over 270* and lack a trail of smoke, I wouldnt worry about it. As long as there is a trail of smoke behind the car thats all that matters as that is the main sign of lubriation, which is what we all want so our engines last gallons. After break in mine wouldnt stay running eather and it was a pain in the butt to tune.

But I finally found the sweat spot at 1/2 turn in from the factory setting and 2 hours in on the low end needle so it would stay idleing. It aslo helped that I ported it which makes it easier for fuel to enter the sleve during start up. I just sold that motor too, shipping it out tomorrow. I just wanted more top end if not I would of kept the .28.

Here is a video of mine running around with the 427, LST2 threaded bell, aftershock flywheel and shoes, on a fat needle(still only 8 tanks on thi engine). Temps are consistant 230* with the body on or off. The engine makes peak power at around 250* so I still need to lean it out another hour or so.

This video was its first run with the new gears. I need to get a vid of it going WOT. It's insane!

losifiend, how much stronger is the 427 over the stock gxr 28? Does it get higher top speed and faster acceleration? Also, did you have to cut anything off your 427 to make it fit?

The 427 has tons of torque. And we all know there is more than one way to get the desired RPM. I opted for the 427 because , for me, its easy to tune and the extra torque allowed me to over gear it to getthe most out of the motor. I geared it up to 18/22 and I know I could go higher if needed. I also ported it and I'm running 30% now.

On road engines have way higher RPMs but you are limited to gearing because of the lack of torque down low. Not the issue with a properly geared 427. The roto start is also a plus because I can start it with the body on and not have to mess with body clips . Also that 427 can be had for just over $100.

I have not radared it but I'm guessing 65 maybe close to 70MPH. I ran it for some friends the other day and they agreed that its flipping fast!!

Here is what I did with the motor and gearing.

Just have to cutthe bottom of the back plate and roto starter plate. Thats it!

lst2 clucth bell with HPI gears.

Here is how they line up. No cutting of the chassis needed.

GYNAIKAS, I have an brand new LRP Spec III truggy edition sitting on my work bench but I dont want to invest in a starter box just yet .

losifiend, that engine looks good. GYNAIKAS, I think you're more towards the lrp .28 because you're focusing on lap time. That's good but for me, I'm a parking lot basher and I always want things at a reasonable price. The hobby should be fun and shouldn't be expensive. I've been in the hobby for only 5 months and I feel that people with a long rc background tend to be more towards tuning it to the max and they forget why they went into the hobby in the first place. But, you guys do know a lot more than I do so it's a good thing and a bad thing. Thanks for the reply though.

I see what you mean. You're probably right about what you say I've overdone it a bit...my biggest fault, i believe, is that i'm pedantic in many sectors of my life.

Hey you guys, can you help me decide which servo and radio system to buy. The stock inferno gt has weak radio and servos. You can't go far without it dying and it intercepts so much interference. All it does is go and stop and go and stop because of interference even though I'm giving it full throttle. What radio and servos would you guys recommend. Also, do you guys have the same problem meaning that the car doesn't turn much (dual rate isn't as good as my rs4). It understeers because of this.

OK.

Here is my car with a bigger cooling head for the 427. When it was made they made it with the head button buil on to it but it was too small and increased compression too much and the engine didnt like it. So I cut off the head button flush and just bolted it on top so the stock head button. It was running at 258* @ 3 hours in from the factory settings with noticible power. Now it runs at 195*-200* depending on outside temps.

I need new tires but we are moving to San Diego in 3 weeks and I dont want packages floating around so tires will have to waite till we get settled in.
