I'll be back in Hawaii on July 12th to be an eye witness to the performance of those two FuntanaX100's. I know you guys will wring every bit of performance out of them in the Hawaiian trade winds. Am I correct in assuming that Rioji has the one with the Saito 1.25?

Status: offline 		islandflyer...what prop you use on your 1.50 for the funtana? I've picked up a 100 funtana and am going to toss a 1.50 on it, was wondering about good prop choice for 3d....15x4w alright or too small?

15x4W is way to small. I'd start with a 16x6 or a 17x4W. Maybe even a 17x6.

Status: offline 		A good running Saito 150 on 20% should turn an APC 17X6 around 9500,interesting enough,it gets less RPM on a Zinger 17X5,only in the high 8 K's. I've tried the 4 pitch Wide props on several 4-strokes,the engines seem to rev too much and not pull enough for my liking,if APC made a 17X5 Wide I would try that too.

I use an APC 16x6
I just receive a BME 16x6 that I will try. I heard it is a great 3D prop.

Status: offline 		I finally had a little time to open the box and inspect the parts. It looks very similar to the F-90. However, I didn't like having only 2 screws in the rear of the hatch for holding down. I added 2 tabs and screws forward of the canopy location (like the F-90). I also moved the firewall back by 1/2" (Like my F-90) so the prop ends up at the proper location with the Saito 1.50.
The wing got done very quickly (almost no work).

Status: offline 		Building mine as we speak. Going together nicely. When balancing, should the plane be right side up? I've heard both ways and don't know which is correct.

Also, when installing the sullivan tailwheel, are you using screws into the hard mount, or is there a way to get the included blind nuts inside the back of the fuse?

Status: offline 		I balanced my F-90 right side up, and installed the Sullivan tail wheel with wood screws ans epoxy. No problem after 2 years of landing on grass. I will do the same wit F-100

Now I've got a ys 120 for the f100 anyone have an idea for a prop I'm gonna fly it with the 16x8 I have but I'm looking for some suggestions.

I use a piece of stock L shape aluminium, cut to size similar to existing ones. Glued in same place like existing ones I used a combination of CA on the wood to tack in place, then used Gorilla glue on the foam side.

My camera is down, so I cannot post pictures- sorry.

Status: offline 		According to the report in September 2006 "Model Airplane News" (page 40)the tested F100X was 9.23 lb with SA125 (26oz motor/muffler). So I would not count on the F100X to be much lighter than the F90 -- would not expect to run anything less than a SA125 or AX120 in the plane. There will most likely be some light ones out there so you could get lucky--probably the best thing to do is get one and weigh it before you make a motor choice. It looks like a SA150+ will be a perfect fit.

Status: offline 		This is the oddest weight for me. That's what got me the most with my F-90. It is just too heavy for any of the good sized 90 engines (110, 125, 120) And if you go to the FX160 it will fly buy will have a big wing loading.

I'm watching these thread with interest, but if I don't see some planes under 9 lbs, I think I'm gonna pass.

I agree with what you are saying in that this is an awkward weight for the 25 to 27oz motor/mufflers. The saving grace to the F90 F100x is that it still has 1100in of wing area & 10.5 pounds/1100in/OS160FX is a good combo. No, it does not quite have the loading of some other planes, but it does look kind of scale-like.

You think 9 lbs is too heavy !? Do you want it to fly like a Kadet Sr?

I think my F90 is plenty light at 9.5 lbs. It floats forever on landing.

The electric guys are getting good performance at 10 lbs and more. Dean Pappas reviews this plane in the latest Flying Models, and he is happy with it, even at this higher weight, which says an awful lot given Dean's skills and expectations as a pattern flyer.

Yes. Rioji is putting a 1.25 in his. But he will build it in and for Japan where he will fly with no or little wind. He still agrees that the 1.50 is a better choice for the usual 15 to 20 mph Hawaii winds. I doubt that this plane will be that much liter than the F-90 which has been doing great with the 1.50.

I hope to have mine done by the time you get here, but I must admit that I am a little slow on this one (too many other things going on).

I put a YS 110 on one of these - it ended up 9 lbs 5 oz. - I've flown it 3 times now and it is one of the sweetest planes I've ever flown, including the Showtime. Put a 16x4w on it and the power is more than anyone needs for any type of flying. Pull a vertical at full power and its out of site in seconds. Try it.

do they make a 17x4w? Thats one I've got to look for as the new carbon gear has plenty of clearance
