By the testing I have done and all other thrust tests (empirical) that I have seen, a good APC16x6 will out pull the APC16x4w and the APC17x4w and the APC16.5x5 on a typical YS110. Will these other props work?--Sure they will, I have tried them and they all feel about the same to me.

I have had a YS110 on a 8.6 pound plane (E.F. YAK) and found it to be adequate (at sea level). I would be wanting a bit more go go on a 9.5+ pound plane, although many are happy power level.

I like my F90 enough that if I could find one of those light ones or a light 100x (8.3 pounds with a 26oz power package) I would buy it.

Been flying the F100x for the past week now. Saitio 125, 17x4W APC, 30% WildCat CY heli fuel, Plane goes out of sight. More than enough power. Overall the plane does better the the F90. Less rock in harriers and to me is much easier to hover. I mounted the tank against the wing tube and the 1200/5cell NiMH is mounted in front of the tank under the top of the motor box. C/G is @ 4" at the Wing Tips. Any further back did not seem to increase the aerobatic ability of the plane and only made it very pitch sensitive once fuel started to burn off. At the recomended 3-1/2" it flew smoother at higher throttle settings but felt slugish in high alpha and tended to drop a wing tip a bit in walls and parachutes. There is coupling to the belly in knife edge, esp. with max rudder deflections. You can back off the rudder throw quite a bit if you use the SFGs and and still achieve good knife edge performance with a lot less coupling but it will still take a little mix to really smooth it out.

I didn't care for the SFG's on my ShowTime, but on the F100x they really do enhance the flying of the plane and make it fly smoother in almost all aspects. This plane will fly really slow, slower than some trainers Ive seen. And while there is some ballooning on a landing with a near empty tank. it is no where as severe as what the F90 would give you.

I had one aileron that was twisted but was able it straighten out with the heat gun and the stock tailwheel pulled out of the fuse on the second afternoon of flying, despite a generous helping of epoxy. If you use it I would suggest pinning it thru the fuse with a bolt, screw, or a piece of dowel rod. The carbon wing tube is a loose fit in the fuse and wing sockets but is not of any concern yet, that is an easy fix with thin tape when the time comes.

Started building mine. I began to work on the horizontal stab and realized my fusalage was warped. I am waiting on a new one. Realy wanted to get it in the air soon. The plane is beautiful! Anybody have the same problem?

I finished assembly on my 100X today. I have been waiting on breaking in the engine until the build was done so I could find out what the AUW would be and to see if it would balance out. I was worried that I would need to get something more than the Saito 1.25 I have. I'm running 5645's all around and a sullivan tail wheel. Saito 1.25, tru turn spinner, 16X4W prop. All up weight is 8lb 3oz. I'm happily surprised. I thought I would end up with a 9-9.5lb plane after adding the tail wheel and heavier servos on account of the weight of the F90's I've seen. Going to break in the engine hopefully tonight or in the morning and maiden tomorrow afternoon.

Congrats. Sounds like it will be a winner. If that prop is an APC, you could shave a couple more oz by going to a wood prop (ie, Master Airscrew 16x6 scimitar, that 16x4 is good for the 100, but I think the 125 can turn more), and even more savings with a higley spinner nut and prop lock, but I bet you like the look of the tru turn (who doesn't?)

Thanks for the info on the prop. I'll see how it performs. You are correct, gotta love a tru turn, plus the little extra weight on the front for balancing. I'm fairly surprised how well the 100x balanced without having to put the battery in the cowl...

I'll keep the prop in mind if the engine wants more than the 16X4W.

Got mine a few days ago,just opened the box to take a look,what a beauty! Decals are on,covering is perfect,no wrinkles,bubbles,just perfect. Inspected everything,looks good to go. The weight is on the box 8.2 to 9.5 lbs. I chose the Saito 1.25, if it comes in less than 8.5, I'll be happy. There are a few cracks in the cowl, but not major,I'll let it go since that usually looks bad after the first few flights anyway. The previous posts are encouraging,the weight looks to be very good and flight characterisitics too.

You are right...the weights do sound encouraging. If I could get one of these at 8,75lbs I'd buy one in a minute. If it's over 9lbs...I'm not interested. Just too heavy.

So...We have one report at 9,5 lbs and another at 8.2 lbs. Where will the next one be?

Let us know as soon as we get a few built. I'm very interested to see where the average weight is.

I flew one of these this weekend with a YS .91 and an APC 16x4w. Suprisingly, it had enough power for anything 3D. It wouldn't rip out of a hover, but pullout was acceptable. It flew very light - the owner said it was around 7.5lb's. Overall, it flys better than the F90, IMO. Hovers, harriers, rolling harriers, waterfalls, etc.. were great. Knife Edge (with SFG's) was much better than the F90 but it still really lacks rudder authority. It would definitely not KE loop, and I couldn't really get it in a true HA KE. Coupling was very minimal, though. Overall, it's a winner in my book; much better than the F90. It looks MUCH better in person than in the pics I've seen.

my fx100 weighs in at 8.5lbs with a ys120 and balanced nose heavy with no weight were as my f90 needed almost 8 ounces of nose weight and the battery on the engine box to balance out.my battery pack is mounted all the way back in the radio bay. After flying it all day yesterday I can tell you its flies better than the old f90 and lighter too.

I re-located the engine mounting bolts and used a hangar9 adjustable aluminum engine mount that came with my friends h9 extra 260.The engine sticks out 1/8th or so farther than the manual states but its ok.The engine is mounted inverted so I just cut out the bottom of the cowl.If i can resize my plane pics I'll post them up

When looking at the advertised weight of this bird on the box of 8.2 to 9.5 pounds the first impression I have is that if I equip the bird with light everything and 21.5oz motor/muffler (SA100) it should be 8.2 and if I go with heavier stuff and 37oz motor muffler (OS160) it should be 9.5 pounds. This is not the case though--it really is luck of the draw--a heavy bare plane or a light one. That is why I say get the plane, weigh it, and then decide on power.

NP you cant go wrong with either the sa100 or the ys 110 although I'd lean toward the ys 110 if I had a choice.
I'm a little biased though as I like my saito but love my ys engine
