Hi,

I have been flying my Trex 450XL ccpm with out any problems until recently. Noticed that first 2 minutes Head locking is rock solid then after pack is runned a couple of minutes consumed it has started to develop a slight tail drift (very slowly) toward right with out any wind influencing this movement.

Imagine hovering and tails drift towards right at a rate of 35 degress in 10 to 20 seconds. However my tail does not hunt at all.

Any suggestions how to try and correct this slight drift. Belt has been checked and its fine in tension and fairly new.Main Rotor and tail rotors do not seem to be slipping at all.

Thx

Thx Honda Junkie,

I have a Futaba GY 401. Noticed also changed noise in the motor running at high speed also so it could be the motor is giving up on me. It actually disengaged from the case a few weeks ago. We assembled it together with a thiny amount of CA and ran fine for about 10 flights but the noise is getting worse now so will change to a brand new 430L. Think this could have ben the cause?

Hmmm.....that is unusual for a 401 gyro, so it sounds like it might certainly be that old motor.

Your blades rotate clockwise, so your tail is usually pushing a little to the left (anti-clockwise) to keep the bird straight at a hover.......so if the motor is gradually slowing down, maybe the gyro is over compensating........ I don't know, I've never seen that before, I'm just trying to think about it logically.

It really sounds like it's time for a new motor though! :-)

Dude, that 430L is going to give you a LOT more power than that 420LF. Seriously, I know from experience......it'll be like a whole different animal!

I when I had a 430L on one of my helis, I used the 11T pinion, and it gave me a nice fast headspeed, with VERY stable flight, and lots of climout.
