Well here's my second attempt at a SPAD, it's the STYRKORO S27. I loved my parkzone f27 so much and have designed many foamies around the basic shape of the stryker, then i bought a glow motor and since then i have been neglecting my electrics. This has got to be one of the easiest builds i have done, then plane is 90% finished, only some paint and vinyl to make it look like a stryker. My first spad was this same plane without the nose, it was basically a flying wing and flew very good with a 40LA but it was tail heavy so i decided to move the motor forward and use the stock shape of the stryker, i guess i moved the motor too far forward, i needed 5oz of lead in the tail to balance it. I have drawn this plane in cad so if anyone is interested i will post a file. I hope to maiden it next week if the wind dies down a bit. Here are the specs.

I like the design of your Strykoro. Is this made with a single piece of 4mm or do you double 2 pieces of coro with the flutes perpendicular like the BullDawg? I would like to see how you mount the servos, measurements, CG, or Drawings. Did you use anything to stiffen up the wings like carbon rod, or BBQ skewers? It looks very similar to the CoroRoo, found at http://www.spadcombat.com

Sorry i forgot to mention in my first post that it is just a 6mm pc of coroplast and 2-1/2 x 2-1/2 pvc downspout. I did epoxy a 3/16 dowel in the wing, if you look closely in the one of the pictures you can see it. My prototype was basically the same and it was quite fast with the 40LA, the wings did start to flutter a bit on fast level passes but i'm sure with some leading edge stiffening and maybe some more of those bbq skewers you could make this thing extemely fast. Late yesterday i mounted the elevon and throttle servos and did some painting, going back to my shop right now to finish it off. I'll post some more pictures later on. It might look like the coro-roo, but this plane is 100% built around my first plane, the parkzone f27 Stryker. http://www.horizonhobby.com/Products/Default.aspx?ProdID=PKZ1200

Back from the shop, WOW, what a difference paint makes, it's also nice to have a vinyl cutter. All servos are zip tied in place and the CG should be 9"-10" from the back flat part of the wing which is same as my stock stryker, just scaled up. Plane is 95% finished now, only throttle linkage and hooking up the radio gear to go, i might also make a front cowl for looks, but this is simple plastic aircraft design, a cowl will probably be a little bit of work and not so simple. Once i have maidened the plane and exacted the CG i will post plans for all to enjoy. Here's some pictures up to now.

Alright, with those pictures you convinced me that I really want to build one of these. It's going to compliment my CoroRoo quite nicely I think. I'm interested in the drawings that you have.
looks god, great paiont job. perhaps you may want to consider putting clear tape over the leading edge, it should make it fly nicer. great job, looking, waiting for flight report. regards james

Thnaks for the complimements, i got to fly it last night. I don't have a runway but i wanted gear on the plane to save the prop on landing, so i made the nose gear solid. The first flight went alright, but hand launching this plane was not the best idea, i nosed it in a few times, but on my last try i got it up in the air, i think i still need some more weight in the rear, so the CG will be 9-9-1/2" from the back flat part of the wing. I will draw up some plans today and post them. I think next time i fly her i'll find a runway to takeoff from, and make the nose gear steerable.
Since you got it flying, do you think that a .46BB would be overkill on this plane? I have a Sickle with a 40la on it, but I also have an Evo 46NT sitting on a low winger and I since the Sickle flies so great I am starting to have a deeper interest in flying wings.

I found the 40La seemed to have more power in the prototype, but it also weighed 10-12oz less, i think a good .32 would keep some of the weight off the nose and allow for less lead to be used in the tail. I think a 46bb could be used but you might want to scale the plans up a bit to lower the wing loading. Plans will be posted very shortly.

Okay here we go. In drawing 1 layout all the dimensions onto a sheet of 6mm coroplast and cut out. The tail fins are giving me a problem to post so they can be printed to scale, please e-mail me and i will send you a printable .jpg file that will work on a legal size sheet, or on a 8-1/2" x 11" and just improvise the rest, i used 1/2" quarter round to attach these to the wing, triangle would also work. In Drawing 2 cut out fuse from 2-1/2" x 2-1/2" PVC downspout, i used a pc with sides cut down to 1/2" for the hatch. Drawing 3 is the graphics, not sure if the picture is usable to you guys but it will give some reference. Everything was assembled with ZAP CA and zip ties were used for attaching servos, battery and reciever. I used a 3/4" thick pc of ply for the motor mount bulkhead, since this was my first attempt at landing gear i'll leave that one up to you. CG is between 9" and 9-1/2" from the middle flat part of the back of the wing forward. Enjoy, and if you need anymore details please let me know.
