I have a question regarding the differential, when I turn the one of the back wheel forward, is the other wheel suppose to turn the opposite direction like backward? or are both rear wheel suppose to turn in the same direction when you spin either one of them? for some reason both of mine rotate in the same time direction....

The wheels won't turn opposite each other unless you hold the spur gear while turning one wheel. If the diff feels ''gritty'' and makes some crunchy grinding noise, it's probably a a good idea to rebuild it or at least give it a good cleaning and relube. There's no cure like a little preventative maintainence.

Exactly how it works......And if you have dirt in there you will feel it. Perfectly said....

My son has tried racing with the rusty, and i'ts no good, doesn't handle well at all, and yes the rustler on 3cells is a handfull, almost no fun to much power.
I love running the trucks on 2 cells. plenty of power, can't wait for the GT2 to arrive. I'll keep you posted on my progress with it

I know what you mean. My Stampede VXL on 3S Lipo is completely ridiculous. It's perfect on 2S Lipo or even a high quality 6 cell Nimh. Rustlers aren't ever seen at my local track on a race day. They just aren't competitve with the Losi and Associated trucks as far as handling is concerned. They are very durable and great bashers, but not so great against the purebred race trucks, which in your case you'll soon have with your new GT2. They really are awesome handling trucks. I'm eager to hear about your experience with the GT2. Thanks for keeping us all posted. There are tons of people on this thread with a vast knowledge of that truck, and are more than willing to help if needed.

No, got it the other day. I've been working on getting my sons rc18t back together, and having a heck of a time with that little thing. I will get that one out when we get bck from vacation.

Yeah, those mini's are hard to handle the tiny parts. My clumsy hands always have trouble working on my RC18B. Have a great vacation, and hope to hear about your GT2 break-in soon.

What do you guys think about carbon fiber parts(chassis, shock tower, top deck) for GT2?
Does anybody has any experience using these parts?

Amainhobbies sells these:
Xtreme Racing GT2 Carbon Fiber Chassis (part#XTR10901)
Xtreme Racing GT2 Carbon Fiber Front Shock Tower (part#XTR10902)
Xtreme Racing GT2 Carbon Fiber Top Deck (part#XTR10900)

Are you planning to race it or bash it? The carbon fiber parts may increase the rigidity of the chassis a bit which is good from a racer's standpoint. However, from a basher's standpoint, the flexibility that plastic offers is more "crash friendly" and will absorb more impact before snapping.

Adjust your idle gap so that there's about an opening the size of a credit card's thickness. Make sure when you apply brakes, the carb doesn't completely close, and the idle gap is still the same size as when the throttle trigger is at "neutral" position. Adjust the throttle trim and/or throttle linkage until you get to this point. If after the adjustments have been made you still have a high idle, you're probably too lean on your low end needle. Richen it in 1/8 turn increments until the engine settles into a steady, even idle low enough that the truck isn't trying to drive itself. At this point you'll likely need to fine tune both the high and low speed needles to achieve the performance that you're after. Hope this helps a little.

carbon fiber looks great .. but not for the main chassis plate because is a heatsink for the motor and the carbonfiber won't transfer the heat as well as aluminum will.

it runs great now but only runs for about 2-5 mins, then dies...never got a temp over 260.cant seem to get the right tuning...does anybody know if the dust boot on the carb slide gets ripped if that will effect any tuning...it doesnt leak gas there....the carb stays clean on the inside..

I'm not sure about the ripped boot affecting the tune. I forgot to ask if you are running with or without the carb restrictor? After I removed mine and retuned the engine, I noticed I was running a bit cooler, maybe due to the added fuel flow. If your engine stalls repeatedly, it could be a bad glow plug.

usually when a motor runs till its warm and then quits, its worn out.

well i finally got it runing great now but i think the low speed screw is too lean...cause there is plenty of smoke but still gets too hot like 300...if i richen the high speed it floods out so im still trying to richen the low speed slowly but surely....it is also 110 degrees out here in california so i try not to run it till its close to getting dark out...even then its still 98 degrees out...lol no gay refrence to the band hahah

Well,I just couldn't resist the urge any longer. While bashing with my 1/8th buggy is loads of fun I need a bigger challenge ( aka 2wheel drive). My RC10GT2 is on it's way. Acouple of comments on recent posts.I can truthfully see no reason for a more powerful engine that that buzzbomb Associated 15.When you can pull wheelies at will with it,any more power is useless and quite frankly a detrement. As for pullstarts.....when your truck is 50 feet away you gotta trudge out after it,bringit back, trip over the tool box, find the starter box, etc, etc,.With the pull start you grab the fuel bottle and ignitor walk to the truck, fill the tank (if needed), stick on the ignitor, pull the cord and off you go.If your arm gets tired from pulling on the starter cord then something is badly out of tune on your truck and it is no wonder it keeps flaming out on you. RACE ON DUDES!!!

It is your choice.
do the heat cycle which I have never done but makes perfect sense.
or do the Book O.S. way that has led me to many happy returns.
My first nitro was done the O.S. way and still runs strong to this day.
Temps were never mentioned and were an insult then.
I just tuned to throttle response.
I'm inclined to tune to sound and smoke.

ok, so im in the army and im deployed to iraq currently and i brought my rc10gt2 to have something to do in my free time, and surprisingly where im at they have built a small track. my truck is an rtr. im looking to upgrade my steering servo. any ideas? should i buy a new radio that comes with servos? or is my radio fine for just playing around? mainly i just need a better steering servo bc the terrain here is kind of ruff. also, what do you guys think about shocks? i want to upgrade those as well. should i get the associated brand threaded ones or is there a better company? or could i use bigger shocks? i am clueless any help would be awesome.
