It was a little tougher getting the front sanded because the tail has some molded grooves at the front. I got it as close as I could and gave up. close enough for me!

Here are pictures underneath the tail. The fit is pretty good on both sides, but I need to pot in the front as there are some gaps between the tail and the fuse.
I've mearued the incidence against the firewall and its within 1/2 a degree, but when I look at the fuse side it sure looks like the le of the tail is down....

Last picture of the night, a shot from the front looking back. It was much easier mounting this tail, then building another. Also, its tough to let a good tail go to waste, even if it is red.

The best thing about a bolt on tail, is that you can clean everything up and use a clear finish, without trying to fill in gaps with filler which make the fillets look a little goofy.

Dave,
You don't like my blue fillets???
Nice job!! The original plan was to use that pad as reference for a bolt on stab. Never got around to finishing the plug. I might not have to. I might just have to talk to Terence!

Wing is done except for leading edge. Foam, balsa, 3/4oz fiberglass and KlassKote paint. Skined hinges and fiberglass wing tips. Total weight with eveything is 16 1/2oz. Paint is drying on leading edge, you can pick up tomorrow.

Well, I will say I love using Super Fil for Fillets, but that blue color does take a little away from that great clear finish.
I am a little concerned that the bolt on tail will make a weak point right in front of the tail on the top of the fuse (since its not glued to the tail. I think I am going to put a little glass inside the fuse right in front of the tail.
Wing Looks Great Randy! As long as it doesn't say R200 on the bottom

The superfil added character!
Strength wise, that is why I added the 1/64th doubler to the tail. It extends forward of the leading edge. In addition you have a former right infront of the stab to tie everything together. You will be fine.

The dreary day let me get ahead of schedule.
I picked up the wing from Randy this morning (talk about a haul), flew the Eindecker a couple times, stopped at our favorite watering hole, watched a movie, and still found time to get the wing mounted.
I will pot the wing and get the wing tips glued in tommorrow.
I am definately painting the wing tips blue to match the other blue.
The question is, should I paint the fuse white, or blue?
I think blue would look nice, but I like having fuses white so I can see the color of the exhaust residue....

Spent a little more time out there after the Twins cleaned up on the South Siders for the 2nd night in a row.
Twins are 5-0 since I decided on this color scheme.............
I'm struggling a bit with the incidence. The tail and firewall look pretty darn good, but I have the LE of the wing nearly 1/8" up and its still not there yet. I'll check again in the morning to make sure.
