Is that a quickie or the box it came in?

How to tell the difference........Count the number of sides........if you count 5, then it is the quickie.......6 means it's the box.....

Just about done, a 15 day quickie without a lot of time spent in any single day or evening.

Just a consistant 1-2 hours per day. Probably about 20 hours, but Randy did the wing.

It still needs the receiver, fuel tank, battery, and throttle cable hooked up. Current weight is 3 lbs 4 oz so its going to be a little heavy (3-4 oz).

If all arrives this week, it should get maidened on Saturday.

The AMA numbers on the right side of the fuse are Green. I couldn't do a plane without using Green somewhere

What about the LEGALY required AMA numbers.

Ooops, I meant the Legally required AMA number.

No NMPRA numbers on this plane.

That brings something up I'm curious about.

Just about everyone puts their AMA numbers on the wing, I think they look much better on the fuse.

Good point Dave, the idea behind the numbers is for identification if the plane is lost. I have seen several race planes that seperate from the wing, usually the wing is easy to find, but I have seen a fuse travel a long distance and actually not be found for a long time.

Ya know...

I've seen this a few times but... I don't read in any AMA document where ANY markings are required. Only that if you do choose to place "registration numbers" on your aircraft that they "shall" be done a specified way...

I don't mean to start a war over something so trivial.... but, am I missing something?

Clark,
Yes you are missing something, although it is pretty trivial, especially considering how often airplanes change hands and the # of ARF's in use today (both the Viper/Pred's and composites). Section 10, 10.1 (it's in the general rules at the beginning, not in the event specific rules). The rule says "registration numbers shall consists.......", although I've only seen this rule enforced a couple of times. The next rule, pertaining to racing numbers, says that the racing numbers are not required. I use the 27 from my NMPRA # on most of my planes, but leave out the "d" area letter.

The way I look at it, you can write the registration # on the lane sticker, even if it's on the wrong side of the airplane. If somebody's going to cry about it being on the wrong side, they've probably got other things to worry about, and may need to schedule an appointment with Dr. Phil.

Thanks Gary, While I don't exactly interpret section 10 the same way, I think you're right about the original intent of the rule. I guess I'll keep puttin' on my numbers...

Well, the radio gear arrived finally, and everything is installed, throws are set, and its ready to go.

Final weight came in at 3 lbs 11.7 oz.

Heavier than I wanted, but perfect if the rule passes

I attribute the heavier weight to a slightly heavy wing, a 2oz composite tail, the blocks I had to add to the tail area to bolt the tail down, and my fiberglass/paint job. Using the kit tail, and ultracote would have resulted in a plane closer to 1 oz heavy.

I balanced the plane up this morning and was surprised. Its balancing at 3 1/8" back from the leading edge. The Hurrikane has a shorter moment from wing to tail than my Seeker, with the same length nose, so I was sure it was going to be nose heavy. I can move the battery in front of the fuel tank, but I'll test fly it first and see how it flies. I normally fly mine at about 3" back, but that is with a 9 3/4" chord wing (roughly 30-31%) back. Randy's wing has a 10 1/8" chord, so the percentage is basically the same.

Probably that "compostit" tail. (Or TV antenna you got on that thing..LOL...)... as opposed to a "wood" tail. The extra weight could be causing it ??

Hurri-Q 200

Hurrikane Fuse
Neme-Q Tail
R-200 wing

Dave,

I love the HURRI-Q 200!

Interested to see how it flies. See there was nothing to worry about with the CG.

I was worried about the CG, I was shocked when I checked it last night, and had to double check it this morning.

As long as I got the tail/wing/nose straight, there is no reason it shouldn't fly great.
