I am into boats right now and I am considering running LiPos in my boat for the first time and I don't understand LiPo terminology. How do I know how many amps a LiPo will put out. How are they rated? I know about the cell counts and voltages, but not the amps. The boat is very small. Its the Mhzusa Gecko, if you have ever heard of it. Its only 13"s long and 6" wide. It is very light and I will be running a 400 size Feigao brushless motor with a 3 blade 31mm prop and a Hacker Master 40 Brushless controller. I prefer to run a 3 cell lipo for more voltage. It is my understanding in AC, the more the voltage the less the amp draw. Is that also true with DC? I am not really sure how many amps my application will be drawing. I am guessing somewhere between 20 and 40 amps.

LiPos are sold with a "C" rating. This rating multiplied by the capacity of the pack gives nominal allowed amp draw. For instance, a 2100 maH pack rated at 10C will allow 21 amps. You can probably push it beyond that, but voltage will droop and you could damage the pack. High performance packs can be rated at 20C and sometimes higher. In general, yes, more voltage means less amps. Lots of other variables affect amp draw, though. I know zip about boats but the propeller must determine amp draw, similar to a plane.
