Ok, and I am NOT a scale builder, nuts maybe to fly mulit's.
What if the uh.."Refreshment" loovers were wrapped around the circumference of the existing cowls and blended in?
What do you think Bill?? I know it would be a real sacrifice to donate the empties!! Ha ha Make a set of loovers approximately one inch wide and create the cooling flaps and wrap around the existing cowls?...or if you are on the wagon. very thing brass sheet and use plumbers goop? Do not let it run forward of the areas to blend!!

Retracts. No challenge there!!!..Uh..sure..arg arggg!!!
Ok, I just went and took a nacelle apart. The nacelles for the inner engines are LONGER for the landing gear mount
Note the enclosed pictures of the real one, the landing gear folds forward and does not completely go into the nacelle.
If you put the four ounce tank in sideways and kept it up high, there would be around 1.5" under the tank to the bottom of the nacelle and one inch behind it. I am not sure the normal servo set up would work inverted, but it might or you can easily put the engine throttle servo under the rear nacelle cover in the wing after installation.
MAYBE you could get the retract mechanism in there??? Would have to take some looking to find a small set for the forward movement retract.
Hope this helps.

Yes it does. I had planned to mount the engines inverted. To do this, I need to turn the nacelles over. This would lose any place to mount the fixed gear. What do you think it would do to the engine run having the tank up so high compared to the needle? Side ways and up high would have the entire tank above the carb I think. I am not home to look right now. It would be real cool to have the retracts. Also, on that Dare site I noticed they have a bomber crew, I wonder if they will fit. Guns, retracts, dummy engines, 4 4 strokes screaming... I'm drooling on my key board

Yes, the tank position would be a concern and I would STRONGLY suggest time on the test stand.
DO not turn over the nacelles. The landing gear brace would be pointed up. It really is not necessary as the servo is put in there for the inverted engine. Looking at the front of your engines from the rear. Isn't your throttle arm on the right and would be on the lift if upside down?..The servos in the nacelles, for the throttles, are set up for that.
As for retract assemblies? What about some type of tail wheel assembly? Lock the steering?????? Uncharted territory on that one.

Four stroke engines with non reversable carbs (Magnum .30's). The throttle arm is on the wrong side of the engine from the servo mount when inverted. The fixed gear mount would be up top if I rolled the nacelles over, thats why I was looking at retracts, if I could mount them. I might be able to use the fixed gear and set up some type of linkage to run the throttles or maybe mount them in the wing. It has such a neat servo mount for th throttles, I hate not using them. I really am stuck on mounting the four strokes. I believe the sound will overcome any extra work I have to put into it. I have no doubt there is a solution, and it is more than likely very simple and right under my nose. Heard back from Fiberglass Specialties, they won't be able to help out on the cowls. Guess it will be home made. I will use your' and Mr. Robison's suggestion to make it look better.

DL:

The F7F Tigercat also has the ogive shaped cowlings, for reasons of simplicity and availability, combined with making it "Stand-way-off" scale I used the straight cylindric shape on the Tiggerkitty. Just a lot easier.

Bill.
