Hey everyone im running my trex with a 3550KV motor and a 35 amp speed controller. My lowest battery i use is a 2200 MAH lipo with 10c constant and 15C burst discharge. Which pininon should I use on my motor and also which discharge rate should I select for the speed controller so i dont fry the battery? Which head speed should i select for the speed controller? Thanks

Todd:

If you're a beginner, start with the smallest pinion which will give you excellent total control & head speed.

Which ESC are you using? For the Align or Phoenix, use "Normal" throttle mode (Not Governor), and set timing to Inetrmediate.
Batt cut off is less important, as my Trex won't even take off at 9.3 V.

im using the align 35 amp esc i just had a pack catch on fire and i didnt know if it was because my discharge was to high or because the headspeed was to high? Thanks

I'd start with an 11T pinion on that motor if I were you. It makes for a decent head speed, and great stability.

align 3550kv sounds like a 430L. you should not use that at all with a 10c battery.

sounds like you should use 10 or 11t with some 315 woodies to cut amps as much as possible. i wouldnt trust it with anything more than an easy hover.
