I am not good enough to try a full range of 3D but hovering, high alpha flight, climbs form a hover, etc. are no problem. Jason Knoll appeared to have no problems doing a wider range than I'm capable of doing.

DA-50 weighs in at 13.9LBS
Li-Ion batteries and Micro throttle servo
Just Tintied the Canopy and it looks great. I'll post a pic here soon.

I"m planing to put an mvvs 3.15 in this plane but i don't know if this engine have enough power for 3D manuvers !

I am going to be getting a DA50 for my GP Yak and this will be my first gasser. Not sure what you mean by cutting a hole in the firewall for the 1" clearance to the carb body? How big of a hole are you talking about and exactly where do you cut it out at. Also do the push pull servo in the fuselage do a good job and did you have any problems setting them up? I am go to need all the help I can get with this DA50.

Hi Charles,
I did not cut a hole for the Carb and it works fine. I used the Pull Pull set up with just one HD servo JR Z900T Works awesome. I'm using li-ion packs for weight and have them both mounted on the motor box up fornt. The plane flys awesome.

Thanks for the heads up. I was also wondering do I need to put some right thrust in the engine when I mount it. It appears that this is already built in to the fusealage. I have read that you are suppose to keep the batteries at least 12" away fro the electronic ignition due to interference. Have you had any issues with radio interference?

Hi,
Here is a link for some inexpensive packs they are the same LG cells everyone else uses. http://www.batteryspace.com/index.as...OD&ProdID=2732 For switches I use the MPI HD switch and MPI 10 amp regulators.

For mounting I put the Ign battery inside the battery box and the RX pack I have next to the Receiver. I'm a little too tail heavy and would recommend mounting them both on the battery box unless you do a lot of Hovering.

Hi everybody.

I've just got my GP yak and I'm thinking on a DA 50 on it. I'd like someone with this configuration to tell me if any change in right or down thrust is required for this engine. I hate to have to move the cowl after some flights to adapt it to the new position of the engine...

I did not reinforce ANYTHING and have many flights witout any problem. I'm using an OS 1.60 but people with gasoline motors (DA 50, etc) do not have any problems either.
Don't worry, this plane is NOT built like the CAP 232 from Hangar 9. I had one of those and reinforced most of the airframe because I saw what happened to a friend that did not.

I you do a gas motor, because of vibration I recomend to got thrue the whole aircraft especially the fire wall, extra glue is allways good.

I am on my second yak, the first went in doing a low high alfa knife and the left elevator servo locked in the neutral position. That plane had the fuji 50 with a bisson muffler and a 3w 20x8 prop. It would do everything you would ask of it. My setup had 1 rudder servo in the tail. the reciever and battery were on the secondary servo tray. The only thing that took a bit to get used to was the rate of descent, very steep needed a little power to not pancake it in. I would land with about a 15 foot rollout. I do not know the weight or the cg I just put it where it needed to be to fly for me. I will say I added no weight to the plane to balance. Plane number two is almost done it will havev a DA 50 for the weight. I found that the landing gear wouldn't hold the plain up very well if it has the heavier engines. In my gallery is a picture of the fuji and the gear splayed out and it is just sitting . It seems the file is to large to post here.

Thank you for your message, I live in the USA but my family is from Casares de Arbas, Leon. It is a small village smaller than yours. It is close to Puerto Pajares. I have lived in the US for 42 years but I'm proud of my roots and that is why I use the Spanish seal as my avatar. Marmitas is a nickname that I inherited from my grandfather who, like myself, could "blow-up" easyly.

Does anybody knows if the yak 54 can fly with a titan zg 38cc.
With flying I mean hover and torque rolls and much more.
Or is the titan zg 45cc a better option.
I've heard someone whose horizontal fin was come loose,
do you have the problem too?

I am picking up one that is ready to go. The Length is 68" but How tall is it? How wide is it? I will be taking my 4 door truck. The short bed is is 5' 3" long. 7" in a 45 deg angle. I will have to see how tall tith the top closed. I do not know if it will fit. I don't want to take a trailer down there unless it will not fit.

An earlier post addressed a way to prevent the horizontal fin from coming loose that I used in building my Yak. Remove the covering on the bottom of the plane in front of the tailwheel where there is no balsa sheeting..you can lay in a fillet of epoxy on the inside, and if your creative you can get epoxy on the top of the stab as well.
