Would the ZDZ 40RV work well on the YAK or would the 73" Edge be better for 3D?? I would want at least 1/2 throttle pullout.
Thanks,
Chris

If you want 1/2 throttle for pull out, I'd say the 73" Edge would be your better bet.

Caution, 40cc gasser on 73 inch wing = brick. Chop the throttle and watch it drop. I'll take that engine on the WH Yak any day. Not disagreeing with Tom and Ben, they are both right. But I prefer the wing loading of the Yak with the 40cc gasser. Vertical pullout is not as important to me hence the Yak as my pick for that engine.

It will probably add another pound to the airplane. When I had mine with the OS 160 it would float and float and float. The online review has a Brison 2.4 and it floats in nicely for landing. That engine weighs the same as the ZDZ 40. Flight characteristics aren't based on wing area alone. Airfoil shape has a lot to do with it to.

I can assure you that with a lightweight 40cc engine the Edge is not a brick, farthest thing from it. Very well matched for 3d stuff.

The Yak is good also, but if you want to go vertical at 1/2 throttle then lighter is better.

If you're looking for something that will be ballistic, you might look into putting a BME 55 Extreme on the 73" Edge. I think it weighs 2.5 lbs. or so with the ignition and has as much or more power than a DA 50. So think what a DA 50 would be like on a 12-12.5 lbs. plane...

YES !! That is the perfect engine for a 73 inch aerobat. Forgot about the BME 55 (even though it's not out yet).
