i am in the process of stripping down a byron f 18, the wings are fibreglasses over foam,i need to strip down the wings of the old paint then fill all the dents and repaint, i dont want to paint over the old paint as it will add extra weight which i cannot afford any suggestions would be really appreciated. Is it safe to use the same fibreglass safe stripper over the wings or it will eat up the foam

Have you found an actual product that will strip off paint without attacking the glass? I have been searching for such a product. I came across one but it is not available in Canada, only the US. Be very carefull about using some of the heavy duty paint strippers. All that I have checked advise against using over plastic of any sort.

Sorry I did not answer you question. but we have a mutual interest in this.

after driving around all of richmond bc i have managed to narrow down to two products. One is on order and as soon as it comes available i will tell you the name. I also went to a fibreglass and plastic store and they did have stuff for what i intended but it was too big off a quantity. I still have a few stores in mind and i will inform you of my success.

The stripper I was referring to is sold in the NAPA automotive stores in the US. The label on the can says "Automotive Specialty" Automotive refinishing products'

6804 Fibreglass Paint Stripper.

Maybe this helps.

The next time I am in the US I will dig around.
