While I've read many postings re the Usa and Canadian pipe re size and thickness I don't recall anyone noting that brown pipe is thinner than white.
I've made a number of downspout/coroplas planes. The largest, so far, is an 8ft 91 powered mondster. I use white pipe on large models and brown or white on the combat types. White is 80 thou thick and the brown 60 thou. Both are 2 1/2 Inch and readily available from two local hardware stores. I believe both are USA manufacture. The brown is a slightly harder, more brittle plastic, so a little more care must be taken cutting it.

Thanks for the info! One thing I've learned is that are more variations of gutterpipe than I could have ever imagined. One important thing I've learned is the difference between first and second "generation" PVC. First generation is virgin plastic in it's first manufacturing process. Second generation is recycled plastic, much like particle board in the wood world. Second generation PVC has a rough texture inside, is the same color all the way through (usually white and no defined layers) and the pipe is more brittle. First generation has a clean smooth clearly extruded texture inside, and if you look at the ends, you can see definate manufacturing layers...very often it is light grey or off white on the inside, and white or brown on the outside...this is the stuff you want! I have not researched this info, it is all from a conversation I had several years ago with a home gutter and siding contractor. He also told me that if you think you are getting a good deal on house guttering or siding, YOU ARE PROBABLY GETTING 2ND OR EVEN 3RD GENERATION VINYL and PVC and it's only good for about 5-10 years before it starts cracking and falling off. First generation vinyl will last over 20 years to life.
