Hello,I have a bone stock CP which I've been flying since October. I can hover tail in, side in like a pro, I can do forward flight, and fast forward flight, and long as the nose doesn't face me. I waited a little bit to long to start head in, so that I'm still learning. I find that now when I'm not practicing head in, it really doesn't have the power I want it to have. What upgrades would you guys reccomend at this point. I suppose I LiPo would go a long way, but I sort of wanted to wait until I got the aerobatics kit before I got that, I suppose I will after I finish head in anyways. I already have CF blades, I'm just waiting until I'm good enough to warrent using them before I put them on. Thanks.

get a 9 tooth motor, heat sinks, heat sink compound, li-po(1200 mah), CF blades, bell-hiller, hs-55 servos(must reverse them if using the stock Tx), superskids, and get an extra heat sink for the tail.
That shoudl be plenty.

If you can do side in hover, and forward flight, just concentrate on your fingers, more than the helicopter, and you will be able to fly it towards yourself, in forward flight. say the direction your finger must move, and move it. don't try to control the helicopter as it is in a hover, control it, as in forward flight, just ignore the postiion of the helicopter in respect to where you are.

good luck,
john

I never tried that, I'll give it shot. Basically I'm hearing get the works then? I suppose I just wasn't sure if I was actually ready yet, but I gotta change over some time.

I agrre 100% with John68, he's helped with with my upgrades of the last 2 weeks. I upgraded as John suggested and it made a world of difference. I was getting alittle frustrated trying to hover, but after installing the upgrades, WOW, different heli.
I did add to John's list the aluminum swash plate. Total cost, about $100 bucks. But to me, it was worth every nickel. John mentioned the HS55 servos, I also got those, $13 each.
But as John mentioned you have to open up the servos and reverse 4 wires in each servo. Took
me about 30 to do all three. The reason the wiring change is that these turn the oppose direction of the stock S75 servos the CP comes with. Reason for the HS55 is that they have not sloop in the gear train, the S75 are a little loose and makes it a little more difficult to hover.
If you go with the HS55, just let me know, I took pictures of my process.
Also, balance, balance balance those blades, it made a huge difference to my CP

I'm not to worried about having to mod the HS55s, I'm part of the way to having my computer hardware engineering degree, and I'm familiar with all sorts of soldering and such. I suppose I'll head up to my LHS tomorrow and get what I can, I've got about $45ish to spend right now, I'll get the rest when I can afford it, luckily, I do have a pair of CF blades sitting right next to me just waiting to be put on the copter. I'm looking forward to seeing how much of a difference it'll make, because like I said, I'm getting to the point where I'm pushing the helicopter a little bit, and finding that it lacks the power I want, I've heard alot of good about the bell-hiller upgrade, so I hope that does indeed help with head in, reall after I finish head-in, I'm already set as far as FF and FFF go, I've been practicing that in every orienation other than head in, so when I finish learning head in hove I should be set until I start inverted! I look forward to seeing how big a difference it makes!

As I mentioned the HS-55s are a lot tighter than the stock S75's. Just e-mail me for pictures and what wires to reverse. I did it thanks to John68, It takes about 30 minutes to reverse all three servos, the 55's make a lot of difference.

Well, I made it to the LHS today and bought the aerobatics kit, an extra tail motor heat sink, and a bell hiller kit; that pretty much wiped out my funds for today, I hope to buy more stuff next week. After installing these and replacing the flybar which was actually bent, I tried to take off using the stock battery and it wouldn't make it off the ground, I messed around with pitch for quite awhile before concluding something must be wrong. I have a thunder power 1320 mah 3S pack sitting here because the plane it normally flies in blew it's esc, so I figured I'd give it a shot. The heli took of the way it should no problem. Man it's so much more responsive, when I get used to it, that'll be great, exactly what I wanted, and tons more lift at full. So I guess I'll have to retire the stock battery now, I wasn't happy with it anyways, it always took about 2 hours to charge with a peak charger at about .8 amps, which is totally messed up. The only problem I have with this whole thing is that my Lipo was very specific that if it goes below 9v it's toast, so what's the best way to know when to stop flying? I suppose that it should stop producing enough lift to fly before it get's to 9v though. My stock battery was reading 10.5v, and it wouldn't take off on that, so I guess maybe it won't be a problem, but I figured I'd ask. Thanks for the instructions Dave, I hope to get the servos in a week or two, it looks pretty straight forward. One thing I did really like about the lipo was the increased tail authority, it seems to have much more pep now!

Just went outto fly the rest of my battery, wow, that's all I have to say, I'm already getting used to it and it's like a whole different heli! I did some things today that if I'd tried yesterday would have cost me at least 50 bucks in repairs. That's really impressive, thanks for the advice guys!

Your right about the li-po batteries, if they get below a certain voltage level, there trashed. I did this on one of my batteries on a CX that I have. I tried to get the last drop out of it. You'll know it's trashed because the charger green light won't come on. $26 bucks for the CX battery.

If you notice it take more throttle to do any movers, just set it down and recharge. I have 2 batteries for the CX and 2 for the CP. This hobby is too cool.

Good luck,

When I finished off the last of that lipo my heli would had a significant decrease in power, to the point that it required full throttle to get above 3 feet and my lipo read 9.90V at that point, which is well above my cutoff, so as long as it stays that way I'm pretty much set. Although they make lipo alarm boards that you can plug in between the battery and and the esc, than may be a good idea, then it beeps loudly when it gets to low. I may try and get one of those for it because both of my planes have auto cutoff.
