I was curious to ask what engine would be recommended for a Raptor 60 V2? I was looking at the OS 61 SX-HG. but any suggestion would be helpful in making my decision. thanks all

From a lot of posts I have read about 60 size helis, a lot of people use the OS 70 and have good luck. They seem to have lots of power for a 60 size heli. I've read post where people put them in 90 size heli and have good luck (they just change the gearing).

I guess it boils down to what kind of flying are you going to be doing. If your getting into 3D flying you want to get as much power out of your setup as possible, if you just going to be flying around then I don't think it matters what 60 size motor you use.

I recommend the Ys61 or Ys80 and good pipe. I have ys80 and hatori in my Raptor 60. Yes i know lot´s of power but awesome to fly.

My R60 is running an OS70 and a Hatori SB70 pipe on CY30%. Very nice combo. The new generation OS70 seems to have worked out the original piston issues, and the 3 needle carb is excellent

I use the os70 also. fairly easy to tune even for a new guy like myself. Although I do tend to stay on the rich side.

Sharky,
the original OS70's had some issues with a very thin piston top resulting in burn through

Don't overley worry fellas's It has happened twice here in a month. Mine my have been running lean it also showed head gasket leakage the lean run did show heaps of smoke but who knows, It was being given a good whip round suddenley went dead , auto'ed well. The fuel was 7%castor,13% syn.,oil and 10% nitro. Go figger?????
The second 50 not mine insane head speed may be too lean too long, different fuel 20% syn. oil 10% nitro.
Conculsion Not enough nitro richer mix needed?????
The head on the piston is very thin.
Both our fuels now 22% oil syn.20% nitro and very rich burned now 3 gal.
Bob..
PS will put pic up.And check my gallery

By the look of that picture it does look like it had a hot supper. How much fuel was burnt through it before that happen?

We had one go but the head bolts were loose. Picture looks the same though. OS replaced it under warranty.

You can't go wrong with either the YS80 or OS70. Had a OS 61 WC in Raptor 60 V2 for over a year and replaced with OS70 because of 61 would bog under loads even with GV1 governor and high speed throttle servo. With the OS70, I don't even engage the governor unless overspeeding the head is evident. Just remember the YS and OS have differant crank thread size (OS american thread size - YS is metric) so you'll have to rethread the fan hub or buy a metric thread size fan for YS.

If you want to go with an OS61WC with 3 needle carb, I have one I'll sell ya, CHEAP .

Happy Landings
