Roger, I got off topic with the word games.

The Vintage R/C Society, AMA's Special Interest Group Defines Vintage as:

"Any model airplane that employed radio control and was kited, published or flown (attested to by the builder) prior to January 1, 1970 is eligible under VR/CS rules. There are three classifications: Pioneer, prior to Jan. 1, 1950; Vintage, prior to Jan. 1, 1966 and Nostalgia, prior to Jan. 1, 1970. "

I remember seeing the kits on shelves latter than this, however I have no idea the original date of the design.

Often the conversation is more enjoyable than the answer.

I need my coffee.

How old does a fellow modeler have to be before before he is considered 'vintage'?!?! I'm not mentioning the Ladies here as it would be insulting to talk of their age

Apologies for taking the thread in a little diffetrent direction, but I couldn't resist

Scott

I personally consider things to be from the crinkle-paint era, the anodized era, the vinyl era and the plastic era.

S.A.M., Society of Antique Modelers consider 1938 and earlier as 'Antique'. From 1939 to December 1942 is 'Old Timer'. From 1943 to Dec. 1956 is 'Nostalgia'. These are originally free flight, and compete in endurance, with the assistance of radio. If you haven't seen an Old Timer rocket up vertically with a screaming modern engine, you have a thrill in store.
