Hi:

I am here to make a little news.

The next batch of 28% Edges is changed slightly.

The fuse is 1" longer, with the stabs staying in the same place and the rudder moving back. This change, in our testing, has greatly reduced or eliminated wing rock in a harrier.

The other change was to go to full length ailerons, all the way from tip to root. This makes the ailerons more effective at zero airspeed when you only have the prop blast to rely on. This is typical in a hover.

Same price, same plane, just improved harriers and hover.

An excellent plane just became even better.

(This darn internet system I'm using blanks out all the option buttons or the first post would have been edited)

HA! I pretty much determined that lengthening the fuse and inch would have been just about perfect but I wound up moving the stabs 1.25 inches forward to acheive the same results with mine.

To say it's like a different plane is an understatement in the least. If you have an oder one, sell it and get the newer version when it becomes available.

Yes, they are on the way and should be here in about 3 weeks, as always dependent on US ports and railroads.

Tesla, relocating the stabs was actually pretty simple be to do it right you need to remove the covering from the bottom of the model so you can access the inside. I don't have any pics of the build so I can't help you with that, the completed model is here in this forum somewhere so you can read about it there. I actually changed more that simply moving the stabs forward but I beleive that relocating them made the biggest difference in the planes 3D flying abilities.

Shogun,
I moved my rear stabs forward just like you did and thats all I've done. The plane still rocks like it did before, I think the fix to your plane was the enlargment of the rudder. I seen a BME 28% Edge this last weekend that was just the first flight and it was stable and its rudder was larger like your modifications. I dread making this change but I hate the wing rock and unstableness, Tom sent me new stabs hoping this would resolve it cause one of mine wasn't straight with the other side, great customer service, but I really think your rudder modification was the root to stopping the wing rocking.

Here is your post on your Edge Mods......

The one thing that moving the stabs forward, or the rudder aft, allows for is the ability to fill in the rudder cut outs on the inboard side of both elevators. I'm pretty sure that the improved flight performance was the result of all of my mods and not simply a single change. One thing is for sure, moving them forward was probably the biggest part of the project that I did on my plane.

Aerobatic...like shogun said...I agree it is probably a combination. I myself modded the rudder...adding 1.5-2" to the height, making it look more scale...but left the stab alone. Still rocks like a SOB. Getting it pretty low now because I'm getting used to it.....but is definately a handfull to say the least to keep it locked in.

I ussed to think it was something with my edge till I asked one of the most talented guys in our club to fly it. He flew it right down onto the deck and said it flew just like his. here is a short video of his http://www.rivervalleyflyers.com/Vid/brian2.wmv I also fly one of toms ultimates and that has almost no rocking to it. Ill be looking for another 50 cc plane as soon as I do something foolish with one of the ones i got. I keep getting braver and braver with that Ultimate.

Thanks Cappy69,
The next thing I was going to do was enlarge the rudder. I really wished that we had the exact thing that corrected Shogun wing rock pin pointed. I guess we could do all the mods. and get the same results, hopefully.
