Hi, y'all....

When I first took over the Vintage forum, we had For Sale, as well as info. Since there were very very few For Sale/Wanteds, we kept it to the one forum, with relaxed rules on posting For Sale and Wanteds. Works very well.

However, it appears traffic has increased in the forum, which brings us to review our policy.

Therefore, I would like to know from you folks, do you like it the way it is, with info interspersed with For Sale, and Wanteds, or is it time to split the forum, with sub forums for For Sale and Wanteds?

Thanks for visiting the Vintage forum - it's come a long way in a year!!

Roger

That would be the intention, if we "leave it the way it is"...We started out with a Vintage and Antique For Sale/wanted forum early on. After several months, if I remember, there were only a couple posts, so we did away with it, and kept just the Vintage and Antique. Because of that, I have allowed For Sale, and Wanted posts there, because we have a relatively dedicated, small and polite audience, compared to some of the other forums. It has never gotten out of hand, but we are having quite a few more ads, in with the general forum. So I am trying to leave it to the Vintage and Antique audience, to determine if they would rather see the ads in a sub-forum, or leave it like it is...both have their merits. Personally, I would like to see a sub forum, with for sale and wanteds/ trades, etc, separate. But I feel it's a decision for the members, therefore, they should have a say...

I think there's about 5 days left on the poll....

Roger

Roger ; I think the title of this forum covers the people as well as the items , maybe thats why every one is polite. The older we get the more we resist change. Most times older items listed elsewhere seem out of place because of their age. I think this forum will have a greater following for us old FUDs with a separate listing for older items. Harder work for someone though. MAX

My thought is I hate to begin reading about an old product or a problems, and then somewhere about the eighth reply it becomes a sales pitch. You go along reading of this and that, learning a bit here and there, and then someone sucks you in. You begin discussing an old radio or A/C and then some loud mouth pops in with "I GOT ONE FOR SALE" and then the columns becomes an endless display of "It comes with this, But not that, and How Much, etc."

The whole Post then looses a focus.

There are plenty of places within the For Sale/Wanted columns to place a sub-directory for Vintage or Obsolte equipment. Keep for sale where it is best found. It may be small, but so are some of the other sections and areas within RCU.

I weigh in with William, coosbay. While this has not been a big problem YET, sooner or later it will be.
I kinda like to have things seperated, so that commerce does not corrupt the art too much, you know?
Maybe a subforum RIGHT AT THE BOTTOM of the regular...you know, in the same way that "wanted" ads are "sticky" at the bottom of the FOR SALE forums? Do the same, only put VINTAGE FOR SALE/WANTED sticky at the bottom of the VINTAGE/ANTIQUE forum. Good solution?

I was under the impression that this was a discussion forum, the A/C for sale, trade, wanted, etc. was the place to post all those type ads.

I like the idea of a sticky at the bottom but it would not be reflected under the for sale collums, Lets keep it the way it is and ad a vintage/antique for sale or trade to the "Swap collums" like the warbirds-kits-built planes-etc.

I just didn`t like my older items listed with the rest of the crowd, most of the young boys don`t know what it is, when its here they have some idea by the name of the forum. I have died twice on operating table in last three years & it has changed me to the point where I don`t take things too serious anymore. Life is way too short troops! I will go where you boys put me as long as it`s not six feet under! What gets me is the amount of people that have viewed this forum vote & not voiced their opinions. I did ask first if it was OK to list. MAX HANSEN, AMA AVP, Leader Member,Contest Director,IMAA AVP & just a loveable guy !!HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL

Hi All,

I like the idea of a sub-forum within this forum. That way things that are relevant can be listed "For Sale" here. But only if they are relevant to vintage modeling.

With 212 views, 22 chose to vote, 13 voted to keep the Vintage Forum the way it is now, and 9 voted for change. At this time, we'll keep it like it has been, but we might look at it again in the future....

Thanks to all who voted, and expressed an opinion...
