i think if it was a bit cheaper they would sell alot more deffinatly maybe after a few months it may go down in price?? allowing more people to afford it

Cheaper??????????? How much cheaper do you think it should be??????????? try putting an FG package together with all the stuff thats included with the Baja and let us know what you come up with. The Baja comes with 2 stroke oil, shock oil, air filter oil, extra shock shafts, extra upper front arms etc. etc.

I understand that to some people it would be crazy to spend that kind of money on a toy, but in the world of large scale R/C the Baja is really a bargain!!!

AND the Baja has the nice differential and externally adjustable shocks. Something that costs a LOT of money to drop in an FG. Alonmg with the battery, radio, servos, all stuff you have to spend extra on an FG for.

I own two FGs and welcome the Bajas. More 1/5th scales = more fun.

i got sick and tired of waiting and went for another FG,
and one thing i noticed also which helped in my decision, parts availabilty and the fricken shell comes pre-painted, now, if your more then one guy with a baja you all look alike, they should sell the body clear and let people paint it.
apart that it looks fricken nice and who knows, next year might get me one also once the bugs have been pulled out.

totaly agree but i see places like rc car online are knocking option parts ot for them already and theres the x-can exhaust already (fg/firehammer one) i dont think it will be long either before elcon starts knocking out option parts either i still theres going to be some dissapointment with them to start off with

I like the way it looks but until more come out then we will know for sure. I wonder who will be the first to de-anodize the purple??

As for Elcon making parts for HPI, I highly doubt it. They stick to the FG cars. PLus in Europe I think the market is far smaller for the Baja. So many FG's or clones makes it great for them push out the aftermarket parts.

sniff

when i said cheap i didn't mean half price, the costs of building one of these babys would surprise most what i meant was if it was 'SLIGHTLY' cheaper it would encourage more people to buy one i myself will eventually buy one as i've always liked the look of dune buggys but i will wait for the 2nd generation when all the potential bugs are fixed

still my hat goes of to hpi for finally realising there is a market for large-scale

I think its nice to see someone design a new buggy instead of using the same design and technology from over 16 yrs ago and selling it as a new model with a different body and wheels. As for the price, its underpriced. Its sick how somthing like that can cost under 1k RTR. We can thank the american unions for that.

i've said this before and i will say it again if it wasn't for fg hpi would never have jumped on the bandwagon fg are established leaders whereas hpi appear to be slow followers but never the less i'm happy to see a yank bug on the market no don't go all patriotic again dude its an international sport for everyone not just cowboys heehaaa

Well consider this...it took FG 16 years to learn the rear control arms hit the spur and break it, the plastic gears don't hold up well, the plastic motor mounts don't hold up well, and 16 years later these are still included, so in 16 years FG's done nothing but change bodies and call them "new" versions. Says alot on how good of R&D they have. It's funny also there's only a few HPI's around but everyone running them is jumping them and all and not breaking gears off. Just cause somethings been done for 16 years doesn't mean it's done right. Maybe HPI should buy out FG and correct the issue's with them.

Yeah you say tried and trued, I say outdated. I wouldn't consider buying a 2006 car with 1990 guts under the fancy new body. And that is what FG does.

I bought two FGs cause the Bajas were barely being spoke of when I did it. Otherwise I'd have gotten the on-road FG and waited for the Baja for off-road use.

The funny thing is that the FG buggy is just about an exact copy of a Yankee buggy made in france about 10 years before FG.
