I am not a FG guy or a HPI guy, just stating facts. If the facts hurt, I am sorry.

after looking at your gallery traxxas gasser pic i can understand why,but comparing the r&d of hpi and traxxas in the same breath is nonsense, there leagues apart

Gents could you do all of us a favor and try to keep the brand bashing to a minimum? We mods recieve constant complaints daily about the giant scale cars forum and usually it's over one person getting their feelings hurt by another because of an insult to their favorite brand.

Let's try to remember one thing in all of this, at the end of the day, no matter how much they cost, they are STILL toy cars and there is no reason to get all bent out of shape over them.

Thanks guys.

Man, it is kinda sad to see how a topic like this gets so many posts bashing fellow hobbyists and their choice of vehicle.

The fact is this, HPI entering the large scale market equates to more competition. That is a great thing.
More selection, more options, better products.
I own 2 FG's a Marder and an MT, I am very excited about the HPI Baja. It brings a natural progression to the large scale, one that is overdue.
I hope the Baja goes on to be a resounding success, it will ensure future models from HPI and will also keep FG on track to advance their portion of the market.
I hope Traxxas follows suit with an updated large scale rig. The more the manufacturers compete for our hard earned dollar, the better it is for us.

I am a proud FG owner, but I am an avid RC hobbyist first and foremost. I will be ordering a Baja as soon as I can.
One can never get too much of a good thing.

Things were nice in here for a little while, lets try and go back! This is a good resource, insults and poo-flinging don't help anything

NO offence Mate, but i have a grip, i also havent slept in 40 hrs. so im a bit outta it... but none the less. tell the people of 3 mile island or chernoble that nuclear power is 40 yrs old so it must be tried and true and beats sliced "GLOWING" bread.
the old Plymouth slant six was tried tested and true. you could barely kill it with a 44 mag with amored pierceing shells, i know we shot one. but no one made any money on them except the gas station and oil refineries. oh and who ever made that chrysler porcelon voltage regulator they used to have. go thur one every 6 months ready or not...
just stating a fact.. in no way am i bashing FG> if i had another 2G i d have one of those too. but in the last 3 months of reading. reasearching, asking questions not only here but other sites and local that have said items.. im getting the HPI for my 1st 1/5th.... one LHS stocks FGs, Traxxas, and a few others. but he WONT be stocking the HPI. "theres no 1/5th market around here" so i m thinking to myslef, then why do you have 3 Traxxas MBs and 7 different FGs in stock.. no market?? i think the correct answer is NO MARKUP!!!!. at a grand a piece the HPI sellers can t be getting as much as they do off the traxxas or FG... lhs want 700 for the Traxxas and 1549 for the Fg. not on my CC.
its HPI for me... and if CEN produces a Large Scale MT Buggy OR Street Car ( my first hope), I ll be on it so fast, i ll think im on my first date all over again!!! lol
Timmahh

PS the biggest thing to remember is a grain of salt.. SO MUCH GETS lost when reading text and not hearing context and tones... kind of like making love to your wife in notes. you can do it, but you miss ALOT.

lol

the fun will start when some newbie asks "should i buy a HPI or FG for my 1st Large Scale" ...the mods are gunna have a buzy time ahead of them!

but seriously guys..

I own an FG, Im happy with it, it does what i want & it dont brake every 5 mins from stock (as some ppl point out) & i do drive it fairly hard..so for me, its the dogs dangly's \o/

HPI Baja..
I cant comment because i dont own one, But to what ive read it seems a good solid model, Personally i dont like it & before you start throwing mud at me, its not because its HPI, its because i dont like those style RC's! I also dont like the look of marders/leopards etc, that just my own personal pref..im just a truck type chap!

But for people to say FG is <insert mud throwing text here!> or HPI is <insert mud throwing text here!> is doing none of us any favours, at the end of the day.. ANY competition is GOOD competition, It will be good for HPI to have FG as there competitors & vice versa..it will push the technology forwards.

No one is stealing anyones designs, ideas, maybe! but if they did... look at M$ as an example!

Funny thing is about these types of topics (& im sure theres gunna be many more in the future!) is if we were all to meet up in real life, we'd prob have a great time bashing our large scales around the track together & having a top time, but i bet not once will anyone say "my Baja is better than your FG" or vice versa! ..ok there might be one muppet, theres always one!! :P

but anywayz, lets keep it friendly.. If youve bought an FG & are happy with it thats all that matters, not what others think & same goes for the HPI Baja!

<sniff> tea & biscuits anyone <sniff>

We can thank the american unions for that.

What do american unions have to do with this?

I think he is implying that things are made in china because we union workers drove the companys to cheap labor. Corprate greed has nothing to do with it I guess.

All you guys have to do is think before you type. There ar so many times I just want to type away but then I remember how many guys read it and the it can get out of hand. Not worth it really!! Besides most of us here are older so we should act older.

On a Baja note, I just checked out Hobbytheks site and they have a set of front brakes made already!! Not sure who makes them but the cost around $220 euros (on sale)
They also have a few other mods available.

Check them out:

We have the rotors and brake pads manufactured by RS-5 for us since they're simply the best combination available. Some minor parts like the brake cams, the steel bushings, the stud bolts and the balancer of the linkage are genuine FG. We manufacture the rest of it.
