DANG! It sheared the shaft end right off. That must have been a hard hit.

Anyone ever snap a shock shaft with an FG or clone (Firehammer, Attack, Smartech)?

Please stick to facts.

I have broken the damper shaft on my Leo 3 times, because the steering stop on the upright steering arms was missing(1'st time) and not strong enough(2'nd and 3'rd time)
For some reason, it is always the front left one that breaks...
Last time I also lost the spring, but luckily I did find the spring cup(And I had some spare springs)
Now I hope it won't happen any more, as I now have a original steering stop, instead of my homemade ones.

The shafts on the fgs have split like that. It usually happens when the shocks are mounted on too tight and there is no play on the mounting bolt for the shock.

Yup I've snapped a few shock shafts myself. Even some of the nice threaded ones. Sometimes I wish I can just use some gas shocks. I have som esmall ones that are almost the size I need. Just have to make an extension for the shock tower and give it a try!!

I think he is implying that things are made in china because we union workers drove the companys to cheap labor. Corprate greed has nothing to do with it I guess.

Exactly!

Yes, that is what I was saying. Unions demand high wages for low skilled labor work. That is the main reason all manufacturing is outsourced or automated. Our country needs to understand that there are jobs that are "entry level" work and that just because someone has been cleaning toilets for 30 years does not mean that they deserve $25 bucks plus a hour and FULL benifits. Just because someone has a job it does not Entitle them to the benifits or luxuries that other people enjoy. If everyone made $25 bucks an hour cutting parts apart out of an injection molding machine, what would motivate them to become management or do anything else to better their life.

Look at the Baja for example... people are complaining the price it too high. Well hate to break it to ya, but there is only about 10-20% GP in these kits. Makes it hardly worth even opening a hobby shop. Imagine if these kits were produced in the US under union workers. The price tag would be approx. 70% more

Hallaluya Brother!! I am in a skilled trade that I trained in & out of class for 4 years, everyday has been a learning experiance since, I have bought $30,000 worth of tools, not to mention the risk I take everyday. Then I see my neighbor workin for one of the so called big 3, driving a forklift & making way more money, better benefits & still crying about his JOB!!!!

Now, I must say, on the other hand corporate greed is every bit to share in the blame here. It's terrible what these CEOs do & have gotten away with.
Anyhow, I think things are going to change for the both of them but it will affect everybody.

I don't think that union jobs are the only jobs going to other countries. Its all jobs. Ever get a Pakistani on the other end when dealing with customer service over a credit card. I have. They outsource everything these days to pay the shareholders more money. I'm not saying that unions are not without problems either. I just think all unions get a bad rap because of the big 3 unions. And no I am not UAW. Do you think when a company moves the assembly of a product to another country that they pass on the massive saving to consumers? No. Same price for us, way more profit for them. Thats corporate greed at its finest.

IMHO, i preffer the monster truck FG offers, the hpi biggy looks friken nice but seems long for what i do, i have an MT-5 and love it, does and goes exactly where i want it, imo, the hpi is a litle long for offrod bashing in the sand pit, i do alot of hill climbing with my truck, To know what is best is more what do you really wanna do with it, want something stable on flat terrain that can handle high speed turns, judging from the looks i would say go with the BAJA, or if your like me and simply bash around, jumping and hil climb, imo, i would say go for the FG. notice, this is not bashing any, its simply my opinion and this is what the person starting this thread wanted, others opinions, not others hate of certain models. and on a side note, the baja is cheaper in rtr version the the FG, but FG has a better after market parts availability... for now.
