Hi, I am new here, good to talk to you guys. Hey, I love motoring! I also enjoy riding motorcycles, I have a CBR, and I am quite used to sliding/ drifting one wheel, although consequences can be physically painful if you happen to make a mistake, hehe. I hope to get into real drifting sport one day, but my currents cars are unable to. I rented out and watched the first season (13 eps??) of Initial D about a year ago, liked it a lot. My recent interest in R/C is just one day old. I went to toys r us to buy a pair of Nikko R/C exotics R/C cars as a birthday presents. I took one of them out to test the battery, and I was surprised to see that little bugger was sliding, and spinning up the rear before it would move, the tile floors on my house assist in doing so. So I got hooked, went to toys r us, and got a "drifting" Nikko and I realised, it's the same engine, just with different tires, and it can slide, but no drift. I am not surprised though. So I am taking it back to return soon.

Now I know you guys get this a lot, and hope I don't get ignored for it, but what's main difference between TT-01 and TL-01 chassis? Are they one of the best starting out and cheapest? Is the stock motor strong enough? What am I looking at in terms of MPH? I don't have experience with building kits, is it difficult, do I need a soldering gun?

I am not interested in getting into sport, but just to kill time when I am bored around the house, so I'm wondering is there a good kit available in 1/16 or 1/18 size instead of 1/10? Hoping it's also cheaper, and much more manueverable within compact space inside the house as oppose to 1/10. At the moment, I just want to be able to consistently drift, smoothly, regardless of how fast or slow. I'd like to be able to take 2 or 3 drifts switching left and right. Thanks in advance for all the info!

If I were to get a HBX TL-01 for cheap, where would I get it? The ones from ebay come with Australian charger.

The tt-01D is an awesome drifter right out of the box. If you get the regular tt-01 at least get the ball bearings. Look on ebay like you've been doing . I've heard you can drift the 1/1th scales but you need some hop ups. I recently purchased a micro rs4 and am waiting for it to arrive and could give you more details then.

Tl-01 is an older Tamiya chassis. Its good, because its 4wd, but its old. Ive seen them sold for around 60-75 buks, in kit form.

TT-01 is the newer low budget chassis, plastic driveshaft driven, durable 4wd chassis, excellent out the box and it cost just over 100 buks ready to run.

I suggest the TT01 because of its popularity and characteristics. To get it drifting you will only have to do a few homebrew mods.

As for 1/16 and 1/18? nah, stick to 1.10, its the most popular for this sport.

STAY AWAY FROM THE CHEAP "TYCO/CHILDS TOY, "DRIFT KINGS" youll be happier with RC grade RCdrift.

TT-01 $100 ready to run? Is that with radio control, servo, receiver and body? Where do I get it? Haven't had much luck with ebay.

I am also looking at Kyosho Mini-Z Racers, I got outbid at ebay. So I am wondering where else people getting it under $100?? Thanks.

yeah, thats why i suggested the drift kings, this guy doesnt want to go to his local track and compete in races, he wants to drift in his garage when hes bored...why spend over 100 dollars easily on a car, then ahve to buy charger and batterys for much more, when he can get a driftable rc for about 50 that comes with everything he needs to have fun...

i have driven the Tyco drift kings, they are extremely fun, not too shabby on the speed factor, they defiantely drift, you can hold a good long slide...

yes the tt01 is obviously a better car, but its also over twice the price...so if you are ok with spending over 100, then definately get the tt01, but if fun in ur garage is all you need, and 50 bucks sounds good, then i suggest the tyco drift kings
