So i drove my friends tyco drift kings and was hooked on rc drifting. I decided i would buy a hobby grade rc for myself, as i am not new to the scene. I ended up buying a TT01 rolling chassis off eGay for 45 bucks, added an esc for 70, and used the radio system from my MAXX (rip). i then proceeded to buy ABS piping from my local home depot to use for tires. its been drift heaven since then.

I've been looking around on this forum (drifting) for a while, and am personally getting annoyed of all the posts of beginners asking what to do with their car or what kind of car to get. everyday it seems at least 3-4 threads popup like this, im surprised no one has gotten into an extreme flame war, unless ive missed it.

I have linked a small short lame video of me sliding around in my garage in my TT01. Its obviously not the craziest best drifting ever, but it works, and its stock...everyone read that? no alloy shaft, no ball bearings, no crazy motor, no suspension mods...(i admit however i did lock the dif [:)]) im not saying that it wouldnt be BETTER with those mods, but it is not impossible without them.

i guess what im trying to say is, play around with your car first, see if you can have fun with it without having to spend uber amounts of money, my bet is you can...

foxboy308, yes you can drift a stock set up..
Here is where things differ:Longevity
The Stock Platsic alloy Shaft will flex and snap in a very shortspace of time, while it does do a good job of tranfering power, it flexes and robs some of that power..

The Stock Bearings, these take about 200 mins before they show signs of failing, hence why we ask people to upgrade them..

All other hop ups are considered just that , Hop ups, Not essnetial upgrades..

So there is a difference between an essential upgrade and a Hop up..


( I to agree locked diff is a wise move, not essential but a wise move)

yeah, eventually you will need to get essential upgrades, eventually, im annoyed of the guys who barely get it out of the box and already need upgrades...

I have a tt-01 why waste the time putting on the stock bearings. This really helps in alot of difffrent ways. Pkus the drive shaft is like 7 bucks other than that all you need is some ABS. I do have to agree alot of people do ask the same questions but hey what forum website dones't right.

i agree, we were all beginners once. i know i was.

Now i frequent a LOT of forums, and i would like to say, that so far, this forum has had the least amount of flaming, with the most amount of newbs. Im happy for that.

i just chose to vent here kinda for my own good and self satisfaction

so, keep on keepin on RCU.

can u drift with an all wheel drive car and if not is it possible to have so u can change it too a 2 wheel drive and bak to 4 when your not drifting

1. Yes you can and to be honest 4WD is the only real way to drift properly

2. Yes you can as long as you can remove drive to the front tyres by either:
a. remove front dogbones
b. remove centre belt
c. remove centre driveshaft
