Hey Gryphon!

Long time no see! I was looking around for a device that had (2) temperature probes, an RPM meter, a Volt meter and a Current meter. I found a Czech company that sold this, but it was $964!

I was just about to buy it until I ran into the meter made by Medusa Research. It does exactly the same functions. I want something that has USB, which both have; but, the medusa meter only cost $200.00! So instead I am going to buy the medusa and a laptop so I can start measuring thrust curves, current curves, voltage curves etc. I can also now monitor the temperature of the motor and battery in the airplane to see if I am getting enough cooling.

It's time to spend more money!

I need to buy this medusa meter (Which is better than your wattsup, because it *logs* the data even as you charge the battery as well)
A cell balancer
A battery charger

I got an A+ in my Fluid Dynamics Course and my Tech Writing.

Now I have art and literature, but those are not so bad. Plenty of time for airplanes

Peace,

Edit: I just ordered the Medusa Product, woohoo!

Actually, now I need to buy a charger and return the one I have. Do you have a recomendation. My friend is into e-helis. He told me to buy a triton. He said that the max charge rate is 2.5A with the triton, and that because my battery is 4200mAh and 14.8V, it would charge slow. What would be a good charger to handle my big battery?

Nice to hear from you, I'm glad you are doing good.
If I remembr right you are using a 4S battery, but your motor is best on 5S or 6S according to instructions.
You may want to think about a charger that can charge more than 4S or 5S.
Thunder power has their flagship charger for up to 10S battery and up to 10 Amps (I think for 5S)
It costs $200 and is upgradable. Thunder power is working on a new battery, not sure if li=poly or some thing else, but you will be able to update it so you can charge other similar cells. Ask Thunder power before you buy.
The good thing would be that there is a data port on this charger that will plug into your ballancer and as you charge, if the voltage of one cell gets to 4.3V the ballancer would be able to shut down the charger through this port. Both units TP of course. A charger can only tell combined voltage, so having it tied with a ballancer to monitor indiv voltage might be very helpfull and prevent fire, or ........
I've been using my friends charger with 5S max cells, I don't like it very much, will most likely buy the Tp for $200 as my first and last Li-poly charger.

My plane is almost finished, I spin the APC 6X5.5 E prop at 29650 RPM, I just bought some APC 6.5X6.5, 6.5X6.0, 6.5X5.5 Pylon racing props today. I will most likely be drawing 1000-1100Watts input and about 820 W output when I change my prop.
My watts-up meter was either defective or it went bad. I dropped it off today 1 1/2 from my house (each way)where I bought it. They no longer answer their phones, did not have one in stock. But I will deal with the Manufacturer who sounds like they want to be helpful. I think this plane has a chance of going as fast as 120-130 MPH

Hey gryphon,

I just came back from the hobby shop and bought that charger!

I also bought a dell laptop to run the medusa software so I can evaluate the performance data! (the computer was the cheapest I could find, only $600 bucks!)

Now, the waiting begins
