Some how my Genesis (gen3) destroyed its gear box today.
I have stripped the gear box out of the truck but can't split the 'box open as I can't get my 1st/2nd gears off.
The manual says there should be a nut at the end of this shaft, and when is it removed the gears should slip off. But my generation3 Genesis has a carrier at the end of this shaft, (something the manaul does not show so I take it it was a design change to stop flex maybe).
So can anyone tell me how to remove 1st and 2nd gear assembly????
I have noticed there are 4 bolts in the clutch to engage 2nd, two at an angle are for the spring tension to adjust shift speed. Are the other two in line with the shaft centr line holding the gear on???
Once this is removed should the 'box split open to I can repair the damage?????

The carrier at the end of the shaft you ae referring to should have a small hole cross drilled in it. Slide an allen wrench of the appropriate size thru that hole and a second allen wrench thru the hole on the opposite side of the tranny on the same shaft and gently but firmly twist the carrier to the left and viola it should turn. finish threading it off and gently pull the first and second gear off the shaft. Be Careful, there is a small pin in the shaft the locates the hub on the shaft that easily falls out!!

Go to page 07 and look at 02-17 assembly. You will see the "T" Bolt that is holding the 2 speed assembly on the shaft. The 1st and 2nd gears will remove as a whole assembly. If you don't need to then don't take the 1st and 2nd speed assembly appart.
Mind you I was not ready for what I found . I thought I'd have to replace 2 or 3 gears, but oh no, only two gears have survives all the other 6 are totaled plus there is a bent input shaft.
I am in no doubt the engine puts out 5hp now!!
I don't think my Nissan Skyline's 530hp could have done a better job!!!!
Oh well. I think I may just go for a new 'box.

I think this is what I'll do. I have thought about a Nemesis 2spd, but I think Ill keep the 3sp and reverse. But with the Nemesis I can fit the better brakes. I did buy a set of Nenesis brakes from E-Bay, but found they don't fit the Genesis.
Is the Nemesis transmission housing the same moulding as a Genesis does anyone know, (ie. could be converted into 3sp + R)???????

Scott,
Yes, The Tranny Housing Is Virtually The same, Except for the Mounting Studs For The Brakes And Output Drive Cup Bearing Size. Before I Rebuilt My Genesis Into A Nemesis, I used The Nemesis Tranny With The Reverse And 3rd Speed In Nemesis Tranny. This Is The Nemmi After Rebirth, Due To A Late Afternoon High Speed Encounter With A Block Wall. (Despite Breaking 3 Out Of 4 Upper Arms And Shattering The Front Brace It Stayed Running & I Was Able To Drive It Back To The Van!! Tough & Mean Ass Truck!!! )

Jigga, I live in the desert where it gets very hot and dusty. Everytime I went out bashing I Would have to change filters every tank of fuel.....So I noticed Clean Air in front of the front wheels......1 +1=Clean air snorkel="Cold Air Tube"
Since, That realization I only have to clean the filter every 5 tanks!!!! WootWoot!!! I swear it changed the exhaust note too but can't be 100% positive of that. Very easy mod! cost about $4!! Looks cool too!!!
