As I am hooked on the 2,4Ghz bandwagon, I have 2 suggestions:

The Spektrum DX3 if you want something at a reasonable price point.

If you need/want 4 channels and want/need all the bells and wistles, then look at the Nomadio Sensor.

Id stay away from the Spektrum, if your interested in 2.4 GHZ then pick up a module based radio. The DX3 radio really is nothing to brag about, rather low in features. id reccomend the Hitec SRX.

DX3 may not be something to brag about, but it sure is nice and good price too

It's not really a good price. I can get the Hitec SRX, and the Spektrum module almost the same, sometimes cheaper. Id then have a radio on Spektrum, but the radio would be far greater and would have way more features compared to the DX3.

You can find Hitec SRX FM versions on eBay from around US$ 100 and the Hitec CRX from around US$ 150.

Go to you local hobby shop.
Try how the different radios feel, and then decide what you want. It should be no problem finding a good 3 channel FM system for between US$ 100-170.
It might even be that your LHS can give you a good price....

If you choose a radio, that can be upgraded with a Spektrum module, then you can do that, at some future time when you have an additional 150 or so to spend.

One of the biggest advantages of the 2.4Ghz Systems is that they autmatically find a free channel, among more than 70... this means that you wil not have problems driving, unless there is more than 70 people in the area, that are using 2.4ghz systems.

what u guys think bout the spectrum 2 channel for 170 ??? its a 3 channel reciever but comes with 2 channel transmitter
can always upgrade that in the future right ??
only reason i wanted 3 channel is to have full function of led lights to turn on and off but can wire that directly to the engine so when it runs the lights are on right ??
