That time of year again, this is THE Biggest Warbird event in southwest Michigan (Maybe even ALL of Michigan). Warbirds of ALL sizes are welcome.

It lasts all weekend long. Camp there if you like (no hook-ups tho, portable generators are OK), Ill be camping there there Friday evening thru Sunday afternoon, with three (3) 1/8 scale Corsairs.

Some travel from Indiana and northern Michigan to attend this one. NO Landing fees. No awards, just lots of fun buzzing and strafing the runway with fellow warbird enthusiests.

This event is hosted by the "C.A.R.D.S.", a Lansing, MI area club. They are great hosts. They list a "Parking Fee" ($5) on this year's flyer, but that is usually for the spectators (and they DO draw a more than a few).
Here is flyer from their website:
http://www.radiodrone.net/warbird_flyer_2006.PDF

And their web-site:
http://www.radiodrone.net/

The weather looks to have mild temps, with winds under 10mph and coming down the runway from right to left (from the north). Check it out:

Hope to see a lot of you there.

OK, so the weatherman LIED! Winds were anything but calm all of Saturday. They were calm Sunday until around 11AM or so, then it got just a bad as Saturday.
Nontheless, a GREAT turnout, many brave pilots, and not one plane was lost. Only damage was to a Fokker Tri-plane, which suffered minor damage on a landing mishap during Sunday's windstrom.
Here are static pics of most, if not all the attendees aircraft.

BOTH World Wars were very well covered: lots of warbird from both wars.

With this post completed, only about 40 more pics
Never did find out which Hellcat (the dark blue/ U.S. Navy one) that was: Jemco? Wing Mfg.? Heritage/ SkyShark? Anyone know?
Someone said the giant scale Zero was an ARF. I sure couldn't tell: looked very scale authentic to me.

How about that: a TBD Devestator, with folding wings! I just had to get more than 1 pic of that one.

Or a (Howard) Hughs XF-11? I think the span was about 152". VERY impressive aircraft. The ailerons were about 6" long. As the full scale did, spoilerons are used to assist in roll. Flaps are nearly full span.

And here are the ones I brought along and flew. Last one is my Top Flite Corsair, with newly installed Saito .82. Wow, what a great engine for this aircraft. Even when loaded with Vortac bombs, OR Wing Mfg. drop tanks (as in this photo), that compact Saito had plenty to pull it thru all the scale manuvers.
