Thanks guys for the kind words...

Craig is Chris out of the main shafts (HP03-M004) ? If they are not currently in the mail, I have four main shafts, I can mail you one today if you'd like. I purchased 2 sets and now have 4 individual shafts.

When I tried the Align 325mm blades they were more stable then the 315mm blades. You may just want to watch the temp of your motor because it will get hotter with the long blades.

Another thing I did to stablize the 450 was to add thin gauged solder onto my existing flybar paddle weights. The extra weight has tamed things down a bit. I just made sure both lengths were identical.

It just started snowing 5 minutes ago, darn...........

This is the first time I have tried to place a photo attachment, hopefully it works.

Here is the image of the solder on my paddles.

Julius - A very kind offer. Interestingly I placed my order with Chris over the weekend and still haven't received confirmation. So as it sits, I can't say whether the main shafts are in stock or not. (Chris - If your listening, please let me know). So until I hear from Chris, I may or may not need the help. Will get back to you. On the subject of the blades, the 325mm Align blades I've seen are pretty heavy and would thus but a heavier load on the motor causing more heat. But the ones I plan on using, like the stock blades, are made of wood covered with monokote. While I've not weighed them, they don't appear to be that much heavier than the 315mm stock blades. While the Align blades, even the 315mm ones, and a set I got that fit the Walkera 36, feel to be significantly heavier than the stock blades. We'll see how the 325mm blades compare in flight. Has anyone tried a longer stabilizer bar to lessen the control sensitivity?

Peace - Craig +

For what it's worth, I am using Align 325 mm blades and they felt significantly heavier than the stock blades, neither of which were actually weighed. The CG was slightly off between the 2 blades, and it a bunch of tape wraps to balance them. They seem to fly OK though. Bailey, if you're listening, I finally got the screw set and servo (today) and will try to get the BH back in the air as well as get things fixed on the Walkera this weekend (oops, just remembered, it's supposed to rain Sat. & Sun, darn it! ). I guess it is just too much to hope for: warm temperatures, no wind, and a weekend. Add to that, clean the deck and garage, stain the house, deck, and garage, and mow 18 acres of grass, and all that adds up to an unhappy pilot!! Oh well, hope springs eternal.

Chris - That's great news!!! I'll also check on my end to be sure your confirmation wasn't undelivered because of my spam-blocker - I've had that happen before. Thursday or Friday? Looks like I'll be flying again by the weekend - alleluia. - Craig +

retired911guy, I am still here, with the weather, grass cutting etc, I have had little time to fly, did get out to the field the other day and flew the 500 electric a bit. Still having trouble seeing it over 60 feet away. Don't know what I will do. The gas 500 was ready to go, I thought until I noticed that the motor servo was dead. Will fix that today but the wind is blowing so hard here that even my dog cain't stand up in it. Anyway hope to get out soon if the weather will cooperate and the grass will quit growing.

Bailey, I saw on WRAL the other day, a piece about High Definition Vision and it combined lasik and lens surgery and gave absolutely amazing results. The person interviewed did not need glasses at all, and could see clearly near, intermediate and far in better than 20/20 vision. Apparently, it really works! I would love to have it done myself, since I am nearsighted and have worn glasses since the 6th grade. Maybe they could give us telescopic vision so we could tell what our birds are doing a 1,000 feet away??

Hi All, the weather cleared up today and I went out this morning to fly my 450. I definitely learn something new everytime I fly this little bird. A couple of things I need to keep in mind when I fly, don't fly the heli directly over your head and especially when its a bit windy. Man you can get disoriented easily. Not to mention, don't align the heli directly into the sun. Both times thank god I didn't panic when I took my eyes off of the heli. Its easy to start panicing, but I just waited to see where the bird was and made minor corrections to get it back in a better visual range. Craig the wind came up again and the tail was all over the place. This gyro did not handle the wind very well. I had to keep correcting it during the windy spells. So Wed night I purchased the Telebee gyro. Should be here by Monday and will install it right away. Almost skimmed the blades on the ground, but lucky I didn't hit them. Whats cool about the rubber bumpers on the skids, is the fact if you come down a bit hard on the blacktop, this heli bounces up from the ground. If I were flying over a lawn area it might get caught in the grass and pivot the blades into the ground. This time I did get all three batteries thru. I am forcing myself to fly in some wind as I think its important to know/learn how to correct the heli in flight.

Looking forward to hearing how your flights are coming along. Have a great weekend and happy flying.....

Julius

Julius - You won't be disappointed with the Telebee gyro, instead you'll be amazed you didn't buy one sooner. So either the snow missed you or it's already melted. Good news about a great day of flying. Back in the days when I was a VFR pilot on full-scale planes, any day in the air was good, but the days you didn't have an accident and lived to fly again, those were the greatest! I'm still waiting for my main shafts. As I must "work" on Sundays, that means I lost my day off (Friday) when nothing showed up from CCE Creations in the mail. If they come tomorrow, I will at least be able to get my heli back together again. Then maybe - just maybe - I can sneak in some flying time late Sunday afternoon. I never thought I'd envy retired guys, but I wish I had more time to do what I want to do rather than what I need to do. Maybe in another eight years I will - Lord willing. Peace - Craig +

Bailey (rcjetflyer), should we respond to the comment about "retired guys"? Surely the good father has heard of the infamous "honey-do" list! Were it not for that, we probably would have lots of time to indulge in our favorite hobby. I mentioned just a couple of projects in a recent post, but add to that a fairly popular catering business, dishes to wash, food to haul, shopping for supplies, farm chores, etc. It just does not leave much time for piloting practice. For a lot of us, "retired" or "retirement" is just a word, not a condition. Frankly, I am so busy, I don't know when I had time to work 12 hours a day in major metropolitan 911 center. And that's the truth, so help me Hannah! (That's something me sainted father used ta say, and I dinna have an inklin' of who Hannah is/was!). Seriously though, I am not "going off" on you; this is all in fun. Sometimes it's just as hard to find flying time after retirement as before. In a few years, I may not be able to same the same thing. Like the padre says, "Peace!"

I have some of my spare parts ( it only took 7 days from HK to Sdyney if it wasn't any problem from the Australian post refusing to send anything without company name even with full address ).

I fixed the one way bear as well as my tail rotating problem. I was up in the air this afternoon. the 450 is very stable ( actually ,out of my expectation, ). I burn two batteries already in hovering, loving it . I should take a video next time.

But around the last drop of battery I panic a bit seeing it approaching the wall....oops, too fast, crashed on a wall. , but it was fun. ....

anyway reading the parts list again...

I am not sure if anyone notice : if you have a look at the BH450 operation manual , in the front page, pay attention to the direction if tail rotor blade, it is in wrong direction ( back to front ).
the direction of tail roter rotation is anti-clockwise ( seeing it directly from the front page photo. ). so, in the photo, back of the blade is leading the direction of rotation which is wrong.

mine 450 is like that when it was delivered to me. That's why it is rotating like mad. ( beside that I had the direction gyro set wrong ).

by correcting tail rotor blade direction, my 450 is very stable , it turns to whatever direction I want it to turn.

Chris, since you are selling the 450, do you find this ture, that you need to change the direction of the tail blade ?

retired911guy, you is correct, I had more time to play when I worked full time. The wife just retired a week ago and now she finds so much for the dog and I to do that don't have any time at all to play. How can that girl find so many thing that need to be done is beyond me.
Anyway, I fixed the servo on the motor (broken wire to the servo motor) on the gas Blackhawk and I is going to take the elec and the gas out before the rain starts if the wind is down this morning.
Tzeming, good to hear that you had some good flights, but should the tail rotor not turn a different way from the way that they turn up here above the equator??? Something about the way water spins when it goes down a drain??
Anyway congrats on getting in some good flying. I have added a bit of plastic sheet between the tail boom and the support rods to add some mass to the back of the helicopter. Hope to make it better for me to see when it gets away a bit. Retirement is great but getting old and not being able to see sucks. Happy flying to all.
