Steve so glad that worked out for you. How is your flying coming along? I unfortunately crashed my heli Friday and need parts. I got disoriented in the sky and unfortunately pulled the stick down instead of up. Bad mistake. I have to practice on my simulator now and teach myself to pull up on the left stick in a panic mode not down. Hard lesson to learn. I am really bummed because I had this little bird tuned perfectly.............

Padrecraig, where did you buy your metal head assembly and did you replace components all the way down to the swash plate? Or did you keep the original swash plate assembly?

Steve, I'm jealous you have such a great indoor area to practice in. Good for you.........

Well, after a long time of prior commitments and emergencies, I'm back to flying - not really, but I'm hoping and praying. The T-Rex cnc head upgrade proved to be a bust. Never could get it to work right. The geometry and travel were too far off. So I'm back to the original stock head. Ditto the changeover to Spektrum DX6. The DX6 is too limited - or I'm too much of a newbie to get it set properly So I'm back to attempting to get my Blackhawk back to it's original stock configuration. It was the only time it ever flew well, with the exception of the Telebee HH gyro. That was the only thing that really worked well.

At any rate. Would someone be so kind as to post the stock radio settings? My radio is so jazzed up I can't seem to get it working again. How should the dip switches be set on the TX? And what servo goes to which channel on the RX? Nothing I've read here so far, including the downloaded pages from the radio manual appear to work for me.

Thanks in advance for the help. How others are enjoying flying their BH 450? I've learned an invaluable lesson - "If it ain't broke, don't fix it." At this point I'd rather be flying than tinkering. Peace - Craig +

Hey! Is anybody there? Gosh, I go off line for a while, come back, and everybody is gone. Hope it's just the everyone is off flying instead of going on line. Still waiting for someone to kindly help me with the stock setup info I requested. You don't suppose everyone went and bought a T-Rex and have relocated to a different forum? Peace - Craig +

Hi Craig, sorry I can't offer my help as I don't have the same Radio. I am using a JR x2601.

I am still here. I bought a lot 450 and 500 spare parts and ready for a few crashes.
we got a lot of rain in Sydney for a few days and so no flying...

I am attempted to replaced the plastic head in 450 with the 500 metal head, as they are the same. hoping to get even more stable.

I think I will eventually convert my nitro 500 to electric , too much cleaning after flight, nitro is not that friendly to my hands.

recently I found a way to almost perfertly level the swashplate. you may noticed I posted a few lines earlier about a swashplate lever tools for T-Rex. by understand theory behind it, I found that there is a component in the my 450 that can be used as a swashplate lever. : The red small gear underneath the main gear. Together with the autorotation hub , it is almost perfect for the job, I use it to level my 450 and my 500.

All you need to do is to take the belt off on 450 and take the small red gear out together with the autorotation hub. then take the head completely off and slide the small red gear on the top along the main shaft.
then adjust both servo links lenght and your radio until all three points of the inner swashplate almostly touch ( equal distance ) red gear on the top.

hope this is useful to some of you.

cheers

Tzeming - What a brilliant idea. And I have a spare tail gear in my parts stash. You just saved me buying one of the T-Rex swashplate leveling tools @ $15.00.

Still looking for help with the stock radio settings. Please, some help me!

Peace - Craig +

Some one needs to write a book on everything one needs to know about r/c helicopters that the manuals fail to tell you: like the stock settings for a Blackhawk 450. Or the length of the various control linkages. That is one of the temptation of buying a T-Rex - the documentation is so good.

I ran into another instance today. My Spektrum DX6 TX appeared to be broken. Turn it on and no display. And the charger won't work. Had it all packed up to send to Horizon to fix. But at the last moment I checked out several of the online forums. Did you know there's a fuse in the transmitter? There's nothing in the manual about a fuse. Went to Radio Shack, picked up a fuse, and volia - I'm back in business. Now why doesn't the manual tell you this? Thank God for the internet and forums like this one to find out stuff that the manufacturer doesn't seem to find relevant to the hobby. (I'm done preaching to the choir now). Peace - Craig +

Okay, with the tail facing you the receiver goes as follows:
Ch.1) Left aileron servo
Ch.2) Forward / backward pitch
Ch.3) ESC
Ch.4) Gyro
Ch.5) Empty
Ch.6) Right aileron servo
Batt.) Empty

Hope this helps at least for a starting point. These settings are off the Black Hawk 500 because it is the only one I have in the office. I believe they are the same for the 450. Please double check everything before attempting to fly (especially ESC) and also make sure blades are removed. Thanks and good luck.

Chris - There must be a difference between the BH500 and the BH450 because those settings don't do the trick. I've double checked everything you gave me and still the servo gods are not cooperating. Does anybody out there have a BH450? P-l-e-a-s-e.

Bless me, father, for I have the information you need, or some of it, anyway. I have a BH 450 with the JFT602 transmitter, and ALL the transmitter switches are in the normal position. On the receiver, Ch. 1 goes to the lower LH servo, CH. 2 goes to the upper RH servo, CH. 3 goes to the ESC, CH. 4 goes to the HH gyro, and Ch. 5 goes to the lower RH servo. Ch. 6/B (BAT?) is vacant. I pray that this is correct....
Maybe the Lord has smiled upon you this day?? RH and LH are looking from the rear towards the front.
